Was she related to Jeffery...LOL? I've had similar experiences, but I was never stuck so close to them.

I find this quite humorous considering that the way I spot religious people is by looking around the room for the person who is actually sitting at their desk trying to work while a dozen ungodly folks are leisurely standing around them talking and laughing loudly... Both of which coincide with biblical teachings regarding the behavior of the Godly and the behavior of the ungodly... Maybe that's what you refer to as 'trying to be nice'... We refer to it as 'unwanted attention', which by definition, is 'harassment'... ;)

(OR, were you refering to the hypocrites? Their behavior isn't all that much different than the behavior of the ungodly.)

That was so trite and off the wall...it gave me a good laugh. Any more good stereotypes come to the religious mind? Inquiring would-be fanatics want to know.

They'll only end up getting quickly voted out for not following the beat of the same drum.

Eric's drum is the only beat that matters.

Not when established mods gang up on individual mods, one at a time...? Allowing you to do that is Eric's issue. And quit hiding behind Eric and trying to put the onus on him; it is his giving you freedom of action that you should be taking responsibility for, and not him.

Darth

When Politics started, I championed the moderation threads. I sent private email to Eric and even spoke with him on the phone. So to an extent this thread is part of Erics answer.

To an extent, The "problem" has existed for a very long time. It goes the point that Matt washed his hands of forums and his vote was to close them. A Group of moderators was formed in an attempt stop the problem... Still during this time there are many posters that have no issues only a group that felt they should be able to say/do anything at anytime. When they did they were moderated.
They have continued to the point that the largest number of people within Seti have been banned for not following rules. One of Eric Statements was a Ban might be more appropiate early than later... Well it is now later, those that want/desire to cause issues failed to heed the warning.

So in all this we have a group of people that feel their statements are more important that others. Even though they were judged as being as being incorrect by 12 moderators (that is the count now 12 moderators).

So now Eric has added more moderators to the team of moderators, which were partly the choosing of the "users." They are still finding that a small number of people are saying things which need to be moderated and in some cases to be banned.

If you want we can break out each rule one at a time and work on understanding them. We can do that.

You you point to the Problem, I can and others can amplify what is seen.

What can you say about how to solve the problem? That is what has been missing. Most just say follow the rules... They hae made many intereptations about all anyone has to do is follow the rules.

The problem is that the "few" have been growing larger all the time, and I'm not even referring to those who have formed outside collectives. When added all together, that makes for a sizable minority. There is something more wrong here than meets the eye, and some people don't want to admit to it; otherwise, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I was considering answering your post line for line...somethings I agree with you, on others I see things differently for various reasons. But I have decided to cut to the chase, in one word, transparency. Anonymity of actions and hiding behind a wall creates a situation of distrust, not only here, but in any group dynamic. IMO, herein lies the main problem, no matter how hard people are dancing around the various issues, that is the crux of the situation.

I DONT DISCUSS MY RELIGION OR POLITICS AT WORK

Ahh yes! That'll surely stop the bully from persuing his selfishly needed answers... ;)

(Like I said, it's your goons that run good people off by way of sabotage. Of course, you only see Dr Jekyll but I see Mr Hyde.)

I have an extremely religious person who used to sit next to me at work.

While she didn't push her religion on customers, she often would try to bait me into religious discussions and I'd say she was a bully about it as another tech moved their seat to get away.

Over a 6 month period, I repeatedly and politely declined to discuss religion in our workplace but she persisted. I eventually went to our Management to ask them to have her stop as my repeated attempts failed.

Due to the specialized equipment at my workstation, they asked her to stop. She declined. She was eventually moved to a different desk and then another department as she persisted with other people.

Was she related to Jeffery...LOL? I've had similar experiences, but I was never stuck so close to them. By the time I got finished from them, they wanted to get away from me...they thought I was the devil. That, of coarse, was after trying to be nice with them, but their persistence brings out special talents in me that I usually keep hidden.

If the past is any indication, selecting new mods won't effect anything, especially if they think independently or differently, rather than being passive.

They'll only end up getting quickly voted out for not following the beat of the same drum.

OzzFans quote was
"That's why I would rather get rid of the Cafe and Politics forum. They're simply not worth it in the larger picture, regardless of what the current inhabitant (who do nothing but bicker and fight) think."

Thats condemning all of us who post there.

No, that's saying that the bad outweighs the good.

Why, because you say so? since when can you decide on the merits of everybody who posts in the cafe?

It is an opinion. Just like anyone elses opinion. It is the administrators opinion of the usefulness of the forums. If the administrators decide they are too much trouble compared to the gain for the project, the forums disappear.

Perhaps it is best, if I had a vote I'd go with the rest of the admins in light of what has been happening in the last few hours.
