Well, i did a bit of math to figure out a speed to which a craft would have to travel to reach a planet 25ly away, to make it in ~15 earth years.

15 years = 131,487 hours
25 ly = 146,965,000,000,000 miles

we would need to travel 1,117,715,059.2834272589685672347837 mph to make it in 15 years without hitting anything.

Would anything survive at that speed. We would need to build a multi stage rocket in space, launch it from space (away from gravity), and figure out a way to slow it down so we dont fly by the planet. Probably by a rocket stage or two. Not to mention two mega radios, one on earth, one on the rocket, so we could communicate with it.

It's doable, lets get a kickstarter going to fund it and have it powered by model rocket engines, hey thrust is thrust and they are cheep, well most are :) lol

total time was 29 hours, I now have all 4 cores crunching work units. I have noticed that 40c is a bit to warm for my liking so I turned it down to 35c. Its waiting for the batt to cool down as to why its taking a wile.

the device is listed under my computers. The first wu was a v6 work unit, the current 4 are v7 wu's. Maybe I should use only 2 or 3 cores to help keep it cool. It will take me a day or two to see how it is doing heat wise.

No need to worry about Windows updates if you have Windows 7 or greater. In the first year of the Windows 10 release, the OS will be a free upgrade. No need to buy it. The same goes with future versions.

Once it is available, it should come with a "Security Update" or other notice through the update system on Windows 7, 8, 8.1.

Then I think I will let Einstein go. Seti@home was the project that started all this volunteer computing for science. Although Setis roots are probably in the Beowulf project.

I would never switch back to Windows XP from Windows 7. Windows 7 is so much better, and since I have the Pro version, I get IIS, non-express, for free. It comes with Pro and Ultimate but you have to add it from the "Turn Windows Features on or off" page of the control panel.

After Windows 7 is discontinued and no more updates come in, I will be converting to Linux. I'd do it now but I just got this PC all configured the way I want for now.

Nope no batt temp apps.

I have it setup to always run when plugged in, even when in use, and its been crunching for about 14 hours without even getting warm but its only at 40% done. I am guessing it will take 24 hours to complete a work unit. It's a spare phone and I dont have cell service on it, only some games I never play.

I may take a solar panel, a small wind generator, and a 5 volt regulator to make it a solar cruncher when summer comes around.

Do Seti@home and Einstein@home projects share data and/or work results?

I ask because I am considering dropping Einstein all together. It has been taking 12 hours, or more, to finish the Einstein work units on my PC. If they both benifit from each others data I'll keep both.
