Can't see any more validate errors here at seti, but at seti BETA there I still have lots of them. Suspended all BETA WUs, now and set it to NNT until this is fixed.

208.68.240.18 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu

Added this to the host file of one of my machines and after a reboot downloads seem to be OK. And then I remembered that I have a DNS-Server in my LAN and deleted the domain bekeley.edu from the cache. That did it, too!

But what's the reason for all of this? Do the servers use DHCP? Don't they have fixed IPs? Or is there more than one server for the same function as some kind of fall back and the DNS is too slow to distribute the change just in time?

Yesterday after the switch change I had to do a ipconfig /flushdns and MOST of the downloads finished successful but some of them don't. Is it true that not all WUs are downloaded from the same server? That would be the only thing that makes sense for me in this situation. There's a similar situation at CPDN where for certain projects result files with odd numbers at the end where uploaded to one server and the ones with even endings to another.

Did you install boinc as a service? I'm running boinc at my office too and I'm not allowed to send and receive data through the firewall so I never have internet access and there have never been any messages at all. I set all the clients to "network activity disabled" and "no new work" so that they don't hammer on the network if WUs are finished.

I'm intrigued by
"Clearly, all of this will go again with the next restart into the trousers."

:) that is a common German phrase :)
"Es ging in die Hose."
means it didn't work.
although the direct (literal?) translation goes:
"it went into the pants"

@Morpheus:

Gern gescheh'n :)

LOL ! The word order confused me, I was tryinng to work out what a "restart into the trousers" was !

german grammar :)
in english grammar you would read:
"Clearly, all of this will go into the trousers again with the next restart."

still weird, but making a little more sense (if any) ;)
that's the problem if you try to translate complicated texts with Babelfish

in die Hose gehen = to tank (Quelle/source=www.leo.org)

Thanks a lot guys, but the box will be replaced soon, so I'm not wasting more time with it. My new PDC will be a one with four brains, probably a Q9550 with Win 2003 32 bit.

Run a couple of other BOINC projects in the mean time. Move the folder to the new machine when it comes.

Yes, of course it won't be lazy until the change. There are still 17 active projects running on that good ol' P3 and yes, I will move the whole DIR to the new box or I will let it run dry before I shut it down for its retirement.

Got my first SETI@home Enhanced 6.03 WU on my WinNT 4.0 Server and it seems that seti will be the next project that stops supporting WinNT 4.0.

Error message:

Restarting task 07jl08ab.29468.10706.8.8.42_0 using setiathome_enhanced version 603
Task 07jl08ab.29468.10706.8.8.42_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.

I didn't reset the project cause it doesn't make much sense to waste more time. I know this behaviour from other projects when they start using new compiler versions that do not consider WinNT 4.0 any longer.

I think it's time to say good bye to my good old PDC.

I can't attach to the Seti@Home project..are the servers messed up again?

If you're having attach problems, you should ask for assistance over in the Q&A forum.

Yeah, great help man! Should be written to the MS knowledge base ;-)))

OK, if I type the following URL in my browser: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/get_project_config.php

I'm getting this answer:

  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
- <project_config>
  <name>SETI@home</name>
  <master_url>http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/</master_url>
  <local_revision>12674</local_revision>

  <b>/disks/setifiler1/home/boincadm/projects/sah/html/inc/db.inc</b>
  on line
  <b>22</b>
  <br />
  </project_config>

So, what's wrong with lord sidious???

Server status reports the following:

BOINC replica database sidious Disabled

Is that true? Why is this preventing client from attaching?

If the database is down/disabled, you can't connect to it.

As to why it's down/disabled, we'll have to wait until someone has time to post an explination.

I would accept this if it wasn't called "replica database", so I understand this as a fall back solution for the BOINC database on jocelyn, which is reported as running.

However, attaching clients works every now and then. Enough for me to preload three clients for my office to crunch over the weekend, so don't worry.

Hi there, a warm welcome to White BOINX on Dope!

This is a small team with only three members, whereof only two are BOINCing constantly. So don't expect anything from us. There won't be any bombastic statistics, account managers or funny credit signatures. Oh, and I'm not gonna fry you burgers! All you can get is a poke in the eye with a blood stick ;-)))

So if you like the music of The Tubes and want to share your credits with us, feel free to JOIN our little team and crunch some bytes with us.

OK, I'll talk to ya later folks!
