"Remove your present Boinc installation from windows remove/install programs. You should not lose any data. Install Boinc 4.4.9. When it is working then stop boinc and copy the 2 files into the Boinc folder. Restart and enjoy"

NO, stop boinc. copy your boinc folder first, just in case for backup. then install 5.4.9 over the top of the old. add the 2 files. presto! it will run benchmarks first before continuing your Wu's already in cache.

x64 is a joke. Just another way for MS to make a few more billion before Vista comes out. Kinda like win ME just before XP. Remember? I bet they don't fix any bugs at all.

Just a little tidbit of info I just came across that could be of intrest to people running dual core.

Don't Forget The Patch

As I'm sure most users are aware, Microsoft WindowsXP can be very buggy and all versions available suffer from a 'dual core' bug. Essentially, Microsoft WindowsXP with Service Pack 2 can suffer from decreased performance when a dual core processor is installed. To solve this problem, Microsoft has posted a nonessential patch on its Windows Update website that should be downloaded and installed, or you can follow the instructions here. Either solution will address the dual core performance issue.

Steve....I followed the links but cannot locate the hotfix in question. Seems Microsoft wants money just to help one of their users. Can you make a pointer to the hotfix itself? Thanks

The hotfix can be found here. It sure is stupid of microshaft to tell about a hotfix then not supply a link to download it.

The DL page doesn't work.

i havea 4400+ amd X2 and havnt noticed any performance issues, and i have not installed the patch..should i still install it?

If its not broke, don't fix it.

well in a way..would i notice if its broke? would there be HUGE performance decreases? seti is doing 2 wu in 40 min...so i dont think thats a bad thing lol i upgraded from a 3000+ xp, so im not sure if i could notice a slower performance than should be or not

I noticed it at the end of the wu's. they seemed to run slower at finish. so I stopped one wu and let the first one run for a while to get ahead. some people notice it more when gaming.

But I run a Pentium D 830 and it does 2 WU's in 28 minutes. That's not bad for a cheap processor which loses in the comptetition! :)
Prognatus,

You should be running the truxoft boinc client to claim the cobblers that you're due.
Do you mean the calibrating one? I'm currently reading up on the discussion about it, to find out its latest status and so on. Maybe you can save me some time and tell me. :)
Anyone?

Don't have time to explain, Anybody that knows about it is doing it. Do you want finished results at 15 or 32? That should explain enough. Also if you do use trux's client, you will see truxoft_prefs.xml. right click on it and click edit and at least add the line....

<return_results_immediately/>

<calibrate_credit>all</calibrate_credit> will already be there.
