Posted 12 Nov 2018 by ![]() Post: Hi guys, Looks like it was just too many retries in a short period of time after I aborted a load of tasks while configuring the optimised apps. It worked as soon as I turned on my computer when I got home. As Bruce suggested I've downgraded to SoG_r3557. Looks like it's averaging about 6.5 minutes for each task, with two running in parallel so effectively 3.25 minutes. Is this about what would be expected with a 2080? It seems like the tasks chew tons of CPU, is that normal? Getting some interface lag just with it running in the background. |

Posted 10 Apr 2017 by ![]() Post: OK, so I did a little research on dual channel RAM and it seems that one way to get a viable 24 GB solution would be: If he puts a 4Gb and 8GB stick in each channel there's no problem here. 12GB in each channel. I've seen people make the claim that it's not a good idea to mix different sticks in the same channel but I've never seen any evidence that this causes problems. Also even if he did it "wrong" and put the two 8GB sticks in the first channel slots and the two 4GB sticks in the second channel slot it would operate in flex mode and he would get dual channel for the first 8GB in each channel and then single channel speed for the final 8GB in the first channel. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005657.html#flex |

Posted 9 Mar 2017 by ![]() Post: Sorry to highjack this thread again just one more question. For the SoG tasks should I be running 2 tasks for my GPU, or is 1 ok to keep it fully occupied? It seems to run very different to the "old" CUDA optimised binaries so I am wondering if the optimal settings are also different. |

In a situation where the task required more than 512MB of memory, the 1GB card would have a performance advantage as it could keep everything in its own RAM instead of having to page in and out of main memory. |
