Posted 19 Oct 2009 by Tom Post: Wonder Puppy: Thanks for the reply. It seems there is a bug in NTune, when you have that simple rule, to overclock the graphiccard when windows is starting up, and it sometimes wont do that. Then I guess, it really don't matter, if I figure out, to edit the order of when NTune and Boinc to start up. I'll have a look at EVGA Precision. Thanks |

Posted 14 Oct 2009 by Tom Post: I'm a bit of a noob when it comes down to CUDA. But my best guess is, since crunching with CUDA, is so fast, SETI make sure to deliever enough of packages so you don't run dry of packages. Hope anyone have more knowledge about that, and a more qualified answer. |

Posted 14 Oct 2009 by Tom Post: I have a NVidia GeForce 8800 GT graphicscard (with driver v.191.07), and have installed NTune v.5.05.54 in order to overclock the GPU & Memory. It is possible to tweek the memory a lot, and the GPU a little bit. Or you can tweek the GPU a lot, and the memory a little bit. Or in other words, you have a certain number of Mhz you can apply to the memory and GPU as you please. I have made some personal rules in the NTune, in order overclock my Graphicscard, when Boinc is getting loaded. And the factory settings is applied, when Boinc is getting closed. It is working in windows right now, but when Windows is starting up,the overclocking rule doesn't seem to kick in. And I have a suspicion that Boinc is beeing loaded first, and afterwards, then NTune is loaded. So NTune does'nt detect Boinc is stating up, because it is already started up. My questions are: 1.It is possible to edit, the order of, when programs is beeing loaded, when windows is starting? 2.What are the best tweeking solutions, in order to get a faster CUDA? Should I tweek the GPU or should I tweek the memory? Or a little bit of both? Btw: I have a NVIDIA CUDA driver v.2.3, but Boinc is showing "compute compability 1.1". Is Boinc detecting CUDA as being a v.1.1 instead of a v.2.3, or do I just mixing two different things up? Regards |

(Message 832583)
Posted 20 Nov 2008 by Tom Post: Thanks for the quick answer/solution. It is just a bit shame, I have to do a bit more now. Because, it was possible for me to shutdown the older versions of Boinc down, just by doing the ol' quick/ugly right-button on the Boinc icon in quick launch bar. It's nice to be able to close the application fast down, because I do a little gaming sometimes. And Bioshock or Hitman -Contracts-, is not very happy about, SETI doing 100% of CPU usage ;-) Anyway, it's not a big deal. Just something to get used to...you know, old habits and so on. Or I'll do the Fred W solution. Thanks. |

Boinc_Project is runing in background after closing SETI
(Message 832525)
Posted 20 Nov 2008 by Tom Post: Hello. This is starting to annoying me a lot. Whenever I close Boinc (v.6.2.19) running SETI in the quick launch bar, at the right side in the bottom, I can see in the Task Manager, that SETI is being run by the User Boinc_Project. If I close that, it just starts again after a while (not sure how long time it take before it starts again. But I guess after a minute or two). I did not have this problem with the last version of Boinc. But then again, I think Boinc had some similar problem some versions before + I have a newer computer with a different OS now. I have Windows XP Home with SP3 version 2002, and a Dell Optiplex GX270 computer with Celeron 2,4 Ghz with 1 GB DDR ram. My configuration for Boinc (SETI), is "running all the time" with no specific time interval for crunching data. But anyhow, it should be possible for me, to close the application when I feel like it. Just as before, with the last version. Any idea? If so, thanks in advance. Tom |

No credits after installing Boinc 6.2.18
(Message 802579)
Posted 27 Aug 2008 by Tom Post: I get no credits, after I installed Boinc v.6.2.18. Do you mean, how many packages I get crushed every day? If so, then it is only 1 package every 2. day/3. day or so. This is because, I have a old computer on 1,7 ghz. , and I sometime close Boinc, in order to better work with other software (programs & games). PS: I can now see I have some credit (59.75) waiting for me. That was a bit weird. When is this new credit, going to be released? Then I can have a look in my Boinc window, if everything is working okay. PS2:I had a Boinc client in my firewall set as "Allow" but the "Boinc Manager for Windows" was put on "ask". Does this have any influence on the credit update? |

Posted 27 Aug 2008 by Tom Post: I get no credits, after I installed Boinc v.6.2.18. And I can see on my profile, I have no pending credits waiting for me. I have Windows XP Professional with SP 3. I had a normal graf in the Boinc window before on the older version, on the stat tab, showing my credits. But now it's all "Flatliners". Is it because of the girls I was teasing in public school (just joking), or perhaps the new version of Boinc, or your servers? |

(Message 490949)
Posted 26 Dec 2006 by Tom Post: Thanks to Dude. I used the boinc_5.4.11_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh script. It is working now. Well sort of. It is the run_manager in the Boinc folder, on the desktop, that are working. Not the Boinc in the Applications->Boinc Manager What now? What about the Boinc folder on the desktop? Can I move it somewhere else, and just have a icon on the desktop instead? And get the icon in the applications->accessories menu working? The run_manager in the Boinc folder on the desktop, have just a minor thing, that needs to be corrected, in order to be as it was on my windows XP. It is the "Data info" on the upper, right side, if you use the "Show graphics" command. The "Data info" is not displayed there. And the other bug is, that under "Total credit" in the same graphics window, I have -(minus) and a very long number after that (49 digit or so). Maybe that will be corrected, when my first package is calculated. But it is hard to tell. Thanks |

Boinc v.5.4.9's window
(Message 403457)
Posted 22 Aug 2006 by Tom Post: Hi there. This is not a biggie...but every time I open Boinc v.5.4.9's window, I have to resize it, because it is very small. It is scaled down to the left, so I only can see the buttons at the left side. Not the main window. So I have to resize it every time, to the right, so that, I can see, how far the cruching is going.... Thanks Starpeople.... |

Posted 16 Jun 2006 by Tom Post: Ok, tak skal du have... Posted 12 Jun 2006 by Tom Post: Does anyone else but me, running the seti@home mapview program? I was just wondering about the triplets. All of my triplets dots are green. But I have some that are above the threshold (Threshold for Triplets is 9). For exemble, one is on 11,85, that should be yellow or red I think, when it is above 9. In my settings, I also have Use BoincLogX. And I think that might be the one that's causing the problem. I have Boinc LogX v. 1.51, And I kan see in BoincLogX, that it is showing Skipe, Gaussian, Pulses, but Triplets are not in the list. Hm, trying to find the people behind BoincLogX perhaps. Are you using this program btw? Or have you unchecked this setting in SETI@home mapview? Tom |
