The last chunk of new SETI@home work has gone out. There's still a little astropulse to be split when disk space clears. Beyond that, there's only resends when validation fails.

Thanks for staying 'til the end.

Art Bell got me started in this endeavor as well. I started crunching with a Pentium 200 with the vaunted EDO memory in 2000. My machines are old and soon to be retired so when this restarts I hope to hit the ground running faster. Until then. . . . .

I have been using XP steadily for SETI for over 15 years. It still works fine. Seems to me I read somewhere that you cannot download BOINC for it anymore but don't quote me. I use it for non-critical other stuff too. I will until it won't work anymore. I seem to have less issues with Skype using it for some reason.

I've run into this problem too upgrading from XP to 7. Even though my old crunchers meet the requirements for 7, video drivers have become problematic, no driver at all for my laser printer and on it goes. Old hardware and new software are like kids in elementary school. Some can play nice together and some can't.

I appreciate the info guys. Odd though, I haven't noticed my geriatric crunchers taking twice as long to get the work done. Must be the organic, non-GMO, 100% natural electricity I'm feeding them.

I do think that making work units longer would help if that is feasible to do. Over the years computers have gotten a lot faster and can do more WUs at one time. That means lots of people trying to connect and trying often. Many folks spend a lot of money on powerful rigs and pride themselves on doing a lot of work. More time crunching and less time trying to get enough work makes sense to me.

Those constant notices from BONIC are a tad annoying!
Can they be disabled? Same message all the time...update version...blah blah blah...

It's an integral part of life for me. My computers are senior citizens and there have been no "latest drivers" in over a decade. That's why I quell the refresh on the messages for as long as possible. They should have some respect for these old, crotchety crunchers.

I had the same problem with an ASUS A8Nsli Deluxe socket 939 board. I updated the BIOS from a 2004 date to their latest which was Oct. of 2006. Even though it was still old, it solved my problem.

Installed in one of my computers is a AMD Radeon HD 5450 card, 2Gb of DDR3 RAM. I can't seem to get it to pick any work units. Perhaps is a PCI-E card that won't process WUs. I don't know. Here's my computer info:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual core CPU
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
4 Gbs. Crucial DDR RAM

The card is installed in the bottom most PCI-E slot.
I would appreciate some help on this. Thanks.
