In Everest Ultimate Edition 4.20.1170 it's saying 99 degrees (210 F) and 103 for the first core and 104! for the second core. I can not touch the back of my motherboard without unscrewing and unplug everything. When i touch the heatsink it's hot but i can leave my fingers on it without getting burned since there is not a lot of contact... i can touch only the edge of the metal plates. The rest is protected by a plastic cover. For the swap file, the initial one is 2046 Mo and the maximum size is 4092. I have 2 gig of ram. I stoped the Boinc and now the cpu is at 63-64 degrees... CPU is used between 0 and 5% without BOINC running.

I see my E8400 running at 2GHz most of the time and sometimes it will jump to 3 GHz for a couple of second and go back to 2 GHz :(

My cpu fan on the E8400 is only a couple months old, has no dust and is the one that came with the CPU. I just ordered a Cooler Master that had a good review on toms hardware (hyper tx 2), hopefully it will cool it better. I will let you know, i will try to install it tomorrow. On my E8400 I don't have viruses, I have a good antivirus (antiviruskit from G data) always up to date and I scan my computer every week for virus. I also have spy sweeper. Other than that i have steam running, my logitech SetPoint, Logmein and boinc running all the time in the taskbar. I don't think they are taking much of the cpu, right now setiathome is using 99 to 100% of my two core. But yes it's true that the E4400 has less programs runnings in the task bar. The E4400 is my computer at my work so I use it more in a day than my computer at home (E8400). (8-9 hours compare to 4-6 hours) In my bios the only thing I changed is the setting of my memory. I have a P5E from Asus and Corsair memory that are 4-4-4-12. The bios was putting higher numbers so I changed it manually. I also have the latest version of the bios. Hey John, what do you mean by "If you use requested credit + granted credit for each computer" ? The two computers are both under the same seti account... Both computers are always turned on with BOINC always running on it and they are both more than a month old... Internet is always connected... The only thing I suspect is that because my 3 GHz cpu is running hotter, it's slowing down? would it make sense? Since it's always 100% load because of BOINC and it's at 98 degrees Celcius... If someone can help me understand why my 3 GHz computer is like 3 times SLOWER than my 2 GHz one... Please!
