A very steep decline in Average Credits!!!
(Message 1912782)
Posted 13 Jan 2018 by NorthCup Post: TBH, what I mostly care about my RAC is that it is an indication of how much actual work I am doing, how hard my system has been working, and _especially_ if something is going wrong. If my RAC is falling, and there is still work in the cache, everything else being equal, that would indicate to me that there is something going on with my computer, and I had best take a look at it to see why. I guess that would be my perfect world scenario, but from the comments above, it appears quite unlikely that it will be addressed any time the the foreseeable future. Hello Al, that's is the point !! I try to make that clear, too. I'm looking for the mistake in my house - which is completely unnecessary! Maybe I am a little smarter about this thread than before and do not look for my installation in the future anymore. Maybe I'll only look if the calculator smokes ?! ;-) greetings Klaus |

Posted 12 Jan 2018 by NorthCup Post: Hello All, hello Admins, Dissatisfaction increases. for the work done the ratings have been falling for weeks. The cause in one's own place is appropriate - but useless. The rating system of seti is scrap. This has been known for years - but nothing is done. I'm a bit silly, that I get upset about it. But it is a broken system, which leads us astray. That is bad and should be improved. Is that possible? greetings Klaus |

Posted 2 Dec 2017 by NorthCup Post: Suggestions: Make a sky map. Shows the work units as points in the correct position. Shows information about this point. Shows the already studied and interesting areas of the Seti community. Shows how Seti develops. Highlight interesting information in the map. Shows the own workunits on the computer. Allows a history function. Take us into space!! Shows the processing progress and instant seti performance of the calculator and so on and so forth. Further suggestions are gladly accepted HERE! |

Posted 2 Dec 2017 by NorthCup Post: No, I do not mean the Boinc graphic interface! I mean the Seti graphics part that I can select in the Boinc software. I can not understand how to confuse that. I wrote Seti, not Boinc. Why do not you work on it? Make Seti more attractive - then more people come and we need more people to put their time to work. Why are these relationships so difficult to understand? Seti is boring! Makes it attractive! |

Stay curious, ask and annoy. I do it too https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81990&postid=1892131 Greetings Klaus |

SETI@home 2017 fundraising drive has begun.
(Message 1902703)
Posted 24 Nov 2017 by NorthCup Post: Hello Mr. Korpela The situation for the participants is unacceptable. Mr. Kopella; they call for donations and calculation time. That's okay - that's what we're here for and many of us have been here for many years, donating time and money. The circumstances to do the work for Seti are bad. We pay a significant amount of energy costs to Seti each year. We do this without ranting and volunteering for the research and for Seti. We do not get anything for it. That's fine, too. But what we can expect is good/the best software. The clients for the seti-home calculation are inefficient! That is unacceptable. Please do your homework and provide your participants with efficient software for the different hardware. Above all, the Grafkkarten expect alternative clients significantly (x5!) More efficient than the software from your house. Thus, the output for Seti @ Home could be significantly increased in the future. Thanks and have a nice Christmas time Klaus Schulz P.S. I am from Germany and have had the text translated - sorry for the bad English |

(Message 1892131)
Posted 28 Sep 2017 by NorthCup Post: Hello Seti-Crew, today I read in a profile: "Please update the GUI for Seti - we have the year 2017"! I would like to reiterate this wish. The value for new commitment for seti is not expressed in credits. It becomes valuable when the research and the own work becomes transparent and comprehensible. This goes with a good GUI with history and evaluation. I ask the Seti crew to think about this. Thanks - Klaus Schulz |

Posted 10 Jan 2016 by NorthCup Post: Hello Johny, yes, Fido was a familie! I have had the node 2:241/250 (analog) - and /251 (2xISDN) in Cuxhaven/Germany called "ncn" northcup-network. The Fido-Hardware was a OS/2 Machine that handled all the fido-stuff incl. 2 Lines - ftp-server - planets-server (!) - AMD K6-III with 128 MB RAM and 2 SCSI-HDs with 100 MB... and the rubber-keyboard from my spectrum 48K was claimed hard to tap all these listings :-). Fine, that one again see you in times :-) Gruss, Klaus |

Before the Internet, I was a Fido-node and all workstations searching the next wow signal. It is incredible that my current PC has topped all the years of work in a 2 weeks. In this sense.
