Ubuntu GNOME - Boinc doesn't see my GPU

Posted 19 Jun 2017 by ![]() Post: I think you nailed it - thanks. Doesn't sound like I can do much about it then. It's just one of 3 machines I am running, the other 2 being Macs and super fast. |

Posted 18 Jun 2017 by ![]() Post: I have a video card but Boinc doesn't see it. All it sees is: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz [Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 2] (4 processors) --- Linux 4.8.0-54-generic Note this is an ASUS lappy from 2009 that I recently updated to run on Ubuntu. Any tips to make it know to Boinc? |

Posted 20 Feb 2017 by ![]() Post: I have BOINC manager running on a Win7 and Win10 machine. The Win10 machine has a slightly slower CPU and less processors. I expected it to perform more slowly than the Win7 machine. Does anyone know why that is, or failing that, have tips I might try to increase efficiency? -------------------------- Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz [Family 6 Model 60 Stepping 3] (8 processors) GPU: INTEL Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (1624MB) OpenCL: 1.2 ------------------ Microsoft Windows 10 Core x64 Edition GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz [Family 6 Model 78 Stepping 3] (4 processors) GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (4095MB) driver: 369.09 OpenCL: 1.2 INTEL Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 (6491MB) OpenCL: 2.0 |

Any way to prevent system suspending when using KVM switch?
(Message 1850129)
Posted 20 Feb 2017 by ![]() Post: Hmm, I'm not sure how that would work with a Macbook Air (laptop). I need to be able to switch to it and have it hooked to the KVM switch or it doesn't show on the big monitor. I could leave the laptop open but I need the space under the shelf and like to keep it closed when it's tethered to the local desktop workspace. I can't seem to find much on google where this issue is addressed. I wonder am I searching the wrong terms (system suspending, kvm, macbook) |

Any way to prevent system suspending when using KVM switch?
(Message 1849920)
Posted 19 Feb 2017 by ![]() Post: I use a KVM to switch between PC's and my Macs. When I switch away from the Mac, the system suspends as though it is asleep and it doesn't do any work. I have it set to never sleep when plugged in but that doesn't seem to prevent it when you switch off the focus via KVM to use a different machine. Does anyone know a tweak to get around that issue? Maybe I don't have it configured correctly or there's a setting I don't know about. |
