Post: Friends, the practice of "shunning" was very effective on the Classic Seti Social Board a while back in silencing another incorrigable pain in the fundament. While this person did not assail us with his superstiious religious nonsense, he still made the forum a very unpleasant place to be. After much exhortation simply to ignore him, never to respond to his posts he got the idea. Should the fool in question return to plague us, I urge everyone to shun him. |

I know that the people of the Northland are making a great effort to help the bereaved and homeless around the Indian Ocean. We are one people, how sad that it takes something like this to bring that fact home to most of us. Your friend, Jack |

Post: I believe that one must be beholden to one's neighbor without the reward of heaven...or the fear of hellfire." Hezekiah Jones At the risk of injecting a bit of compassion into this rapidly deteriorating forum, may I point out that millions of our fellowpersons are now suffering the greatest privation and heartache due to the latest demonstration of nature's complete indifference to our species? And while nature can afford to be indifferent surely we cannot. It would behoove all of us to reach into our generally overburdened pockets and make a cash donation to one of the NGO's struggling to deal with this catastrophe. Money is desperately needed to procure and transport needed supplies of food, clothing and medicine to the affected countries. Among the organizations needing help are; Save the Children, Oxfam, Doctors Without Borders, the Red Cross and Red Crescent. You may know of others equally deserving of assistance. If you have already made a contribution you've done a good deed. If you have not, shame on you. One last note. I don't feel it is necessary to respond to this post. If you agree with it act accordingly. If you do not, don't tell me about it because I couldn't care less. Your Fellow Human Being Jack Lass |

Post: There are now millions of our fellow human beings around the Indian Ocean who will not have a happy new year. I urge you all to contribute what you can to any of the bona fide agencies providing aid and comfort to the injured and bereaved. Save the Childen, Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam, etc. all need cash to do their work. Happy New Year to you all from an "old" S@H cruncher. |

Or are you just going for the record of redundant posts? http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status_opportunity.html or, for spirit, http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status_spirit.html Yours for succinctness. |

And how do you think it was intended to be? Whatever you may think of the present administration the only way to get rid of it is to vote it out of office. That is the way it was intended to be. If you choose not to participate, not to excercise your franchise, then your opinion isn't worth a bucket of warm spit. Your obvious high moral stance rings a little hollow. |

(Message 30239)
Posted 26 Sep 2004 by Jack Lass
Post: I'm an idiot too. For years I wandered the net looking for a place where idiots could feel at home. A place where you can insult and be insulted by idiots just like you. Well fellow idiots I have found a home. And you can find one too (if you can find your ass with both hands you qualify, if you can find your neighbor's ass with both hands you can become an officer). Where, you may well ask, is the paradise of idiocy, this board of seriously deranged persons (at least some of them are persons)? Why at The Final Front Ear of course. Take a look and if you have the courage of your convictions (speeding convictions don't count) join in the fun and frolic. <img> <img> <img> And where the hell is the signature I worked so hard to create? It's a bloomin' conspiracy that's what it is. Call my lawyer, call my doctor. |

Post: Having noticed a severe lack of levity on this board --especially in comparison with the late, lamented SETI Social Board-- and a definite avoidance of good old fashioned political controversy, I offer a change from the shameless club mongering, sig tests and such and offer the following. (Oh, there are a couple of flashes--pardon the pun-- of what might be called s*x, so the prudish may wish to stay out. http://atomfilms.shockwave.com/af/spotlight/collections/mock_vote/?mid=219553967 <img> |

Post: My dear Bruno. I am honored to join with you and all the others. As a charter member of The Final Front Ear I have joked about the vicissitudes of BOINC with my friends. But the reason we are crunching is to participate in a scientific investigation. All the crabbing and kvetching is just another symptom of the growing pains of the new system. Yours in fellowship. <img height="80"> |
