Thanks for the win Carlos.

------------------------

Now for the rules

1. The winner of the last thread starts the new one with a post of these rules.
2. Chooses a future event which triggers the winner, e.g., post number, date-time, and records it privately somehow (yellow sticky, etc.)
3. Everyone has fun posting until the target event is reached.
4. When the target is reached, the old winner posts a declaration of the new winner and also PMs them.
5. Shortly after this, a Mod will lock the recently won thread. (My preference is for the winner to ask the mods to lock the old thread after the new one is started.)
6. No double posts. Violators buy drinks or a meal for the house in Rocky's.
7. Additional rule retained from the last round - No posts that APPEAR to be blank - these will be ignored or deleted. (Sig lines do not count as part of a post)
8. No picture-only posts - not all pictures we link to show on everyone's computers & phones.
8a. Keep the number of pictures per post under 3 or less and/or make them tiny and links to full size.

Don't forget to enjoy yourselves.
With each crime and every kindness we birth our future.

5 to 10" of snow tomorrow, and the tire shop messed up my tire order. They will fix it, so I get to leave at noon tomorrow from work to get new tires on. I have a Rubicon, but with less that 1/4: of tread left, it can't perform like a Rubicon is supposed to.

Congratz, Mike.

It needs perseverance and to have a hunch to post here in time, to be an eligible winner. ;-)

A good win there Mike. ;-)

I was very tempted to light the fire yesterday as an antarctic blast blasted through here with a 7C (felt like 2C) start reaching 18C (felt like 12C), so no yard work got done, while today got of to a 4C (felt like 2C) start with 23C expected, but I have to do a quick trip into town this morning before yard work can commence.

Anyhow it's time for a coffee.

Cheers.

After a bit over 2hrs while depleting a 4 and 6A/hr battery all the edges around the yard now have been done as the temp here is at 21C (feels like 19C). It can be mowed tomorrow after I finally do a tip run to empty my trailer. Then my fortnightly interruption can act as a safety officer while I put my wagon up onto stands and put all it's wheels into the trailer for new tyres on Tuesday and while they're being done I'll take the trailer to the trailer shop to find out how much a new set of springs is worth for it (after almost 24yrs of heavy loads it needs them).

Anyhow I'm now ready for a couple of beers.

Cheers.

Cold... slightly freezing temps, just sub zero at night. 99% humidity. Gray, grayer, grayest. Days are getting shorter rapidly... The depressing, wet grayness just won't end.

It's almost time for bed here in North Central Texas.

False Winters was here for almost 2 days. False Fall round #3 paid us a brief visit today. I took advantage of the nice weather mowed, my lawn along with the neighbors Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) tree large acorns and leaves that had accumulated on my property.

False Fall will disappear overnight, return on Saturday and stick around for about a week they say.

Here's the forecast for State of Texans over the next few days, proving that Texas is so big that it can literally have all 4 (normal) seasons in same 24 to 48 hours.

Scrooge McDuck probably needs to get his winter underwear out, while Wiggo probably is already in short pants.

No winter underwear here... it's for true winter... for daylong hiking trips in the mountains in Saxony or Czech Republic with lots of snow there.

But I stopped cycling for now... it's unpleasant and quite dangerous in the early mornings. Small spots of black ice, frozen dew or wet/frozen moss-covered spots in the shadow of trees or walls... A broken ankle or wrist... makes you more cautious.

There is no winter in sight, less so any traces of snow in the lowlands, just the true (and unpleasant) late autumn. Seems climate change prolongs this season... in bad years even until spring. Stable high pressure systems in winter on the continent or even a stable northeastern or Eastern flow from Finland or Russia that blocks the Atlantic wetness became rare in previous 10..20 years.

Our late autumn is grey... the same weather for days or even weeks. We had dense fog above the meadows in the parks at outskirts this morning... Just -2°C (28F). Better days are those with with few hours of sunshine... Different than Texas, it seems Germany is so small that we often have the same weather throughout the country. You can't escape it with a short weekend trip. Poland or Czech Rep?.. the same grayness.

Our traditional German Xmas lights decorations in all windows, at balconies; or covering whole houses in the four weeks preceding Xmas is a pure necessity to distract from this wet darkness in each late afternoon.

@Mike: I wish your mother a speedy recovery, just in time for Xmas... Fingers crossed. I had it
as a teenager... not funny.. Hospital... Penicillin injections each six hours... not to be underestimated at old age.

Well I got my trailer emptied and the yard mowed yesterday and I've got a load of washing on ATM which after I hang it out I'll attend to reseeding my 2 huge wicking tubs that Dog and hail ruined before my fortnightly interruption arrives.

BTW I wear shorts all year round. ;-)

My best wishes for your mum Mike and take care.

Anyhow I better get back to that washing.

Cheers.

Some suddendly appearing (unwanted) Windows 11 widget on my taskbar warned me today about "high temperature", even a "record temperature". It showed a classic red thermometer icon, but no further information. Oh no, is my computer dying? Overheating? Why? I can't even hear the fan.

Upon closer inspection this thing seems to be referring to tomorrow's weather... and indeed, the weather service is forecasting 14°C (57F), which is supposed to be an all-time temperature record here for that exact date. Never trust a statistics you haven't falsified yourself... Maybe it was already much warmer on Christmas eve once, but certainly not on a December 8th.

If I hadn't had this widget, I would have completely missed this earth-shattering news.

That’s interesting Mr. McDuck. That weather guessers think Tuesday will be 61°F.

On my island, it's been nippy. Tuesday's high is expected to be 51°F/11°C, while the low will be 41°F/5°C. Plus it's damp and foggy.
