Are you suggesting that the Saudi royal family may have to reconsider their priorities and sell off their golden toilets to pay for their own national defense!?!?! Blasphemy! :^)

Sales of weapons to these terrorists should never have been allowed to happen in the 1st place.

Democratic senator threatens to freeze weapons sales to Saudi Arabia over support of Russia.

Well that's a rocker.

A high-profile corruption case that alleges Qatar bribed European lawmakers to sway policy has rocked the European parliament.

And more is likely to come as the investigation gets widened to other players.

The murderous prince is at it again.

Saudi Crown Prince sentences men to execution for opposing futuristic city.

A controversial playboy prince has had three tribesmen sentenced to death for daring to oppose his dystopian dreams of building a futuristic megacity across the Saudi Arabian desert.

The men faced ejection from their tribal lands. Now their death sentence for speaking out against the brainchild of 37-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has been upheld.

He has been spruiking flashy videos of the 500m tall, 200m wide, 170km long crystal palace he wants to cut through his nation’s broad desert — regardless of any obstacle in its path......

Germany certainly has.

Scholz: Germany won't deliver Eurofighters to Saudi Arabia in near future.

Germany will not deliver Eurofighter combat aircraft to Saudi Arabia in the near future, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday.

"There will be no decision on the delivery of Eurofighter jets to Saudi Arabia any time soon," Scholz told reporters on the second day of a NATO summit in Vilnius.

A government source told Reuters that Germany would not take a decision on the issue during this legislative term, which ends in 2025.

Earlier on Wednesday, Germany's SZ newspaper cited an internal government document as saying that "applications for export licences for Saudi Arabia will be postponed until the end of the war in Yemen."

Saudi Arabia leads a coalition that has been battling the Iranian-aligned Houthis in Yemen since 2015. The war has killed tens of thousands of people and left millions hungry.

Did this fabulous Saudi Crown Prince (born in 1985) studied the history of its own country, of its own ruling family? His father, the King Salman (born 1935), should know that history still very well.

What happens when the autocratic leaders of an ultra-conservative, very traditional country grossly disregards the beliefs and ideals of their subjects, when they try to force that country into a future that many of its residents have a very different vision of than western crystal palaces? Who supplies the glass? Who builds the crystal palace? Western materials, western engineers, western workers. In 1979 (only six years before playboy prince was born) the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the holiest Islamic site, was seized by islamic extremists. Hundreds of hostages among worshippers were caught in the crossfires which shocked the muslim world. In the fights that followed hundreds had been killed, security forces, extremists, and hostages. What was the motive for this? No deja vu today? Really not?

[EDIT:] Osama bin Laden's motivation for terror arose from exactly the same causes. His family, the bin-Ladins and the bin-Sauds stood for Westernization and large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia without regard to the traditions and visions of the inhabitants.

They're at it again. :-(

Saudi Arabia’s border guards killed hundreds of Ethiopian migrants: Human Rights Watch.

Saudi border guards fired “like rain” on Ethiopian migrants trying to cross through Yemen into the Gulf kingdom, killing hundreds since last year, Human Rights Watch said in a report released on Monday.

The allegations, described as “unfounded” by a Saudi government source, point to a significant escalation of abuses along the perilous “Eastern Route” from the Horn of Africa to Saudi Arabia, where hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians live and work.

“Saudi officials are killing hundreds of migrants and asylum seekers in this remote border area out of view of the rest of the world,” HRW researcher Nadia Hardman said in a statement.

“Spending billions buying up professional golf, football clubs, and major entertainment events to improve the Saudi image should not deflect attention from these horrendous crimes.”

A Saudi government source told AFP: “The allegations included in the Human Rights Watch report about Saudi border guards shooting Ethiopians while they were crossing the Saudi-Yemeni border are unfounded and not based on reliable sources.”

The New York-based group has documented abuses against Ethiopian migrants in Saudi Arabia and Yemen for nearly a decade, but the latest killings appear to be “widespread and systematic” and may amount to crimes against humanity, it said.......

Saudi Arabian border? German defence technology at work!

[...] The best example was initially a project to secure the Saudi Arabian-Iraqi border with modern facilities. In 2007, the contract went to the Franco-German group Airbus Defense and Space (then still EADS-Cassidian), which was to deliver the technology: fences with infrared cameras, motion detectors and radar systems, the information from which was shared in several situation centers with that of patrols on land and in the air should converge. The [German] federal government supported the project by sending [German] federal police officers from the beginning of 2009, who trained their Saudi Arabian colleagues technically and tactically in the operation of the new facilities. According to some reports, training by the [German] federal police was a condition of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of the Interior if the contract were to go to Cassidian. [...]

However, the project on the Iraqi border was only a pilot project, which was followed in June 2009 by the completion of the ENTIRE Saudi Arabian border security. EADS was once again awarded the contract for the technical equipment along the 9,000 kilometers of Saudi Arabian external borders, including around 4,900 kilometers of coastline and 4,100 kilometers of land borders. The order had a volume of around two billion euros and training measures by the German federal police were part of the agreement. The business was not only interesting for Airbus Defence, because numerous follow-up orders for vehicles and ships for border security were expected. At the end of February 2013, for example, it became known that the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen would deliver patrol boats worth one and a half billion euros to Saudi Arabia. [...]

[...] LUNA drones delivered from Germany are integrated into the system of [...] EADS. German soldiers are supporting the military in Saudi Arabia in operating drones [...]. The training in Saudi Arabia lasted almost three months. According to the [German] federal government, "contingent training" was carried out over six weeks at the Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj. "Tactical mission flights" were then practiced in the vicinity of the "village of Jizan" for three weeks. The drones [...] are also used for internal security purposes. Even the [German] federal government noticed [...] that the training flights were carried out "in the area close to the border with Yemen". The "Royal Saudi Landforces" were responsible, from which even the federal government deduces "that Saudi Arabia uses the UAS LUNA for reconnaissance purposes as part of border security".
