Xi may wind up being the senior partner after PooTin's failures.

How China Is Using PooTin.

Another meeting coming up.

PooTin-Xi Meeting Threatens Chinese Curveball in Russia’s War.

Will Xi be in or out after PooTin's failures over the last year and the international response?

Doesn't it.

Russia and China’s new alliance is beginning to echo December 1941.

Two authoritarian powers, one in Europe and the other in Asia, are determined to overturn the global order. Both are resentful towards the Western democracies and believe the international system is rigged against them. With war already raging in Europe, the situation in Asia is increasingly precarious. The world stands on the brink of a great power conflict. It is December 1941, and Germany and Japan are wrestling with the decision of whether to confront the global hegemons before it is too late....

Two hopeful differences this time round are:

Only one of the despots has a meaningful army;
Highly profitable world trade...

Here's hoping the politics favour greater profit in holding back from another war...

Stay safe folks!

Now what happened?

What Xi Promised PooTin.

Xi makes cryptic comment to PooTin as Ukraine gets hit with missiles.

“Now there are changes that haven’t happened in 100 years. When we are together, we drive these changes,” Xi said.
Was that a reference to WWI?

And Did Chinese TV Air Map of Carved Up Russia During Xi-PooTin Summit?

Is the price of Winnie's favour starting to surface?

Xi snubbed PooTin after their summit, calling a meeting of Central Asian countries as part of an audacious power play.

China's leader, Xi Jinping, has called a meeting of former-Soviet Central Asian countries, in an audacious power play in Russia's backyard the week of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Xi invited the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to the first China-Central Asia summit on Wednesday, the AFP news agency reported. It remains unclear whether the reclusive state of Turkmenistan has been invited.

The states are all former members of the Soviet Union, and Moscow has long regarded them as being in its sphere of influence after the then-Russian Empire conquered them in the 19th century.

The move came as Xi was visiting Putin in Moscow as part of a 3-day-summit which concluded Wednesday, in which the nations pledged to deepen and extend their cooperation — and Xi signaled that Russia would have continued Chinese backing in its invasion of Ukraine.

Analysts say that China has secured significant leverage over Russia in return for its diplomatic and economic support, and that in calling the meeting of Central Asian nations it is seeking to exploit that advantage....

It was precisely this thought that made German politicians believe that mutual dependence on Russian gas supplies and Russia's dependence on gas export revenues enforces cooperation and peace. But autocracies do not act in the interest of their people but follow their ideology. China?

Is it because Xi wants to get in 1st, or will it ruin his plans?

China has called for superpowers to step back from the brink of nuclear war as Russia announces a plan to deploy tactical nukes.

China has issued a warning of a possible World War III after Russia’s announcement to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

Geng Shuang, China’s representative in the United Nations, called for all world powers to step back from the brink and maintain “global strategic stability”.

He urged nations to prevent nuclear proliferation and crisis, avoid armed attacks against nuclear power plants and the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

Speaking at a Security Council meeting on international peace, Shuang made clear China’s opposition to Kremlin’s plan to send nuclear weapons to Minsk....

Just another sign that we're getting closer to it?

Eastern European countries scramble after China gives Russia ‘permission’ to invade.

“Ex-Soviet Union countries” don’t exist, a prominent Chinese ambassador has declared. It could be tacit approval for President Vladimir Putin’s plans to re-establish Russia’s lost empire.

On Saturday, the Chinese envoy to France, Ambassador Lu Shaye, denied that nations that fled the Soviet Union after its collapse in 1991 are free and independent sovereign states.

“There is no international agreement to realise their status as a sovereign nation,” he told a French news network.

Now Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are demanding answers from Beijing as they struggle against escalating espionage attacks from Moscow.

They’re just three of 15 states formally annexed under dictator Joseph Stalin as “union republics” of the Soviet Bloc.

Already nervous after decades of Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing his desire to bring the Eastern European nations back under Moscow’s control, the tiny nations are now demanding Beijing clarify its formal position on their sovereignty.

The answer will directly impact their future, and world peace......

The Chinese government disassociated itself from that statement rather quickly. I'm torn between whether it was because he said the unspoken quiet part out loud, or failed to notice that "ex-Soviet Union countries don't exist" includes, well... Russia. :^)

Japan and South Korea scramble aircraft in response to joint patrols by Chinese and Russian bombers.

Japan has expressed "serious concerns" after Chinese and Russian long-range strategic bombers conducted joint patrols over the Sea of Japan as far as the East China Sea and western Pacific Ocean.

Both South Korea and Japan scrambled fighter jets on Tuesday when the Chinese and Russian joint patrols got underway as part of their militaries' annual cooperation plan.

Four Russian and four Chinese military aircraft entered South Korea's air defence zone in the south and east of the Korean peninsula.

Japan's military said it had verified two Russian bombers had joined two Chinese bombers over the Sea of Japan and flown together as far as the East China Sea.

Russia's defence ministry on Wednesday confirmed an air group of Tupolev Tu-95 and Chinese Xian H-6K strategic bombers carried out an eight-hour patrol, accompanied by a group of Sukhoi Su-30M, Su-35S and Shenyang J-11 fighters....
