Thanks for the win Mike.

The following are the Rules:
-------------

1. Winner of the last thread starts the new one with a post of these rules.
2. Chooses a future event which triggers the winner, e.g. post number, date-time, and records it privately somehow (yellow sticky, etc.)
3. Everyone has fun posting until the target event is reached.
4. When the target is reached, old winner posts declaration of new winner and also PMs them.
5. Shortly after this a Mod will lock the recently won thread. (My preference is for the winner to ask the mods to lock the old thread after the new one is started.)
6. No double posts. Violators buy drinks or a meal for the house in Rocky's.
7. Additional rule retained from the last round - No posts that APPEAR to be blank - these will be ignored or deleted. (Sig lines do not count as part of a post)

Don`t forget to have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's looking pretty iffy outside this morning and all 3 weather radar stations (SW,W & NW of here) are showing showers heading this way so painting those gutters will certainly be on hold, but I will try and get proper downpipes sorted out for them a little later on this morning.

We dropped down to 1C (felt like -2C) in the very early hours of this morning (about the time I went to bed) and as the glow in the eastern sky began it was up to 5C (felt like 2C) with 14C expected (though we havn't had much luck in reaching those) while currently it's 6C (feels like 3C).

Cheers.

Thanks ML1 and Mike.

I went to optometrist today and had my eyes examined, about 2.5 year overdue...

Good News: In about 2-3 weeks I'll have a new pair of glasses...

Bad News: I have the beginning of cataracts in my eyes.

If you where here I wouldn't call that bad news Vic as it's a pretty common day op that is covered for all types of pensioners and most of the cost is covered by medicare for others without health insurance (though the cost here for private health insurance isn't worth it for most and you'll still be out of pocket in the end anyway which is likely why it's a dying industry down under).

Anyhow I've been over to the supermarket for a couple of 50mm downpipe fittings and I'm about to go and to do it, but I'll have to go next door to see if they have the 100mm pipe for the other later.

Cheers.

No, good news. It means you have lived long enough to get it.

However get on them today about working on approval for the surgery. It may take a while and a few denials. Pester the crap out of them.

Once you have had it done you won't look back.

Don't worry too much. My ophthalmologist told me that I had the start of cataracts about 7 years ago. At my most recent check-up, about 2 weeks ago, she said they are still years from requiring any action.

Thorsday has turned into P.O.E.T.S. Day here.

I got both awning gutters fully plumbed up so I'm ready for the coming rain now.

Cheers.

My Grandmother had cataracts for about 10 years from first detection to well enough developed to be removed. In reality they probably started to form a few years earlier. Now you know they are starting to form have them checked every couple of years to monitor their progress, which may stall for a number of years, but very rarely proceed fast enough to cause "instant" problems. I've heard that having them removed too soon can lead to far worse problems than leaving them a few years too long - "immature" cataracts are too soft and floppy to "peel" away from the rest of the eye and so may need to be "dug out" (my interpretation of a big long medical description).

That's the really old school way of removing cataracts Rob and I'd be really surprised if anyone is still using that procedure these days.

A cataract is a medical condition in which the lens of the eye clouds. It’s one of the leading causes of blindness in the world, even though it’s both preventable and treatable. The first shocking truth is that it only takes a 12-minute surgical intervention to replace the clouded lens with a durable artificial lens and restore someone’s sight.
This is the procedure that's been used here for about the last 20yrs or so. You just have to remember to constantly use the eye drops until the stitches dissolve. ;-)

Well it's a warm 5C (feels like 3C) with about 30mins to go until 1st light occurs and a wet 12C is expected as showers start to prowl the region.

Cheers.

Well it might be half a day late, but the rain has finally arrived. Though I'm not going out at this time of night with a torch to see how my latest plumbing job is going.

Anyhow it looks like I'm going to see the clock tick over from 1 day to the next again tonight.

Cheers.
