Here's to those in the institution that are bringing its reputation undone. They support anti-abortion, guns for all and pollute to your heart's content with the main offender being the judge who's wife is embroiled in the Jan.6 insurrection.

The frightening implications of Justice Thomas’ press freedom dissent.

And how can you have a sitting judge that tells lies?

Thomas cites debunked claim that Covid vaccines are made with cells from 'aborted children'.

Is it the beginning of the end for life as we know it in the U.S.?

Maybe those judges should've thought harder about their decision to support the lunatic fringe minority.

MD officials must enforce anti-picketing laws on abortion rights protests outside justices' homes.

The U.S. Supreme Court is asking key Maryland officials to enforce anti-picketing laws following protests outside the homes of high court justices who live in the state.

In separate letters to GOP Gov. Larry Hogan and Montgomery County County Executive Mark Ehrlich, Marshal of the Court Gail A. Curley said state and local authorities should be doing more to keep the justices safe...
Firstly why should a state protect federal morons?

And why don't they just pay for their own security? They're getting enough kickbacks arn't they?

But then there's the old saying, "Reap what you sow".

Didn't they block New York's concealed carry law for this reason, self-defense? They should be able to look after themselves.

You would certainly think so and these 850,000 probably think so as well.

Nearly 850,000 people signed a petition demanding that Justice Clarence Thomas should be booted from the Supreme Court following Roe v. Wade ruling.

Even his mugshot depicts a man with no conscience or morals.

The other two Donald Trump appointed (Barrett and Gorsuch) were not forthright in their confirmations and it could be argued they should be removed, but Kavanaugh didn't even bother being evasive and just outright directly perjured. In a sane world, he would be impeached for it. But...

Thomas is definitely the worst of them for not only being brazenly partisan and not even maintaining a veneer of impartiality (he attends Federalist Society meetings which are nigh-exclusively populated by Republicans; examples include Pence and McConnell) and gives partisan speeches there, but also of course his refusal to recuse himself from Jan. 6th related matters while his wife is trying to overthrow the election, then being the only dissenting vote for no good reason when Trump's request to block the release of document evidence to the panel was refused.

But with the hyperpartisan senate where it would be doubtful a single Republican would vote to convict no matter the evidence, I think it would be a waste of time and effort to even try (as I am sure is why it hasn't been done yet.) As far as I know impeachment of anyone whether a president or a judge requires a two-thirds majority.

Nah. Proof that someone wants to impose a religious government on people who do not want it. Sounds just like the ISIS, Taliban, etc. Oh, that's right, they all pray to the very same Dog.

You just have to expect these things when you make bad decisions that pander to morally corrupt minorities.

It is the US Senate which appoints Supreme Court Justices to their job, not a sitting president.

So therefore do not blame a president when he in fact could be pro-abortion, or supporting this choice.

But except for not being a US citizen myself, and also wanting to leave the Senate in peace, I do know that former
vice president Dan Quayle was a Republican, and also leader of the Senate.

So like majority versus minority, it becomes that of elected when the House of Representatives or Congress here,
except that it could be switched in order when it comes to the Senate.

Only that Donald Trump was himself a Republican, and got those wacky people elected to become Justices, rather than
sitting in the Senate instead.

Here I remember Newt Gingrich as well, and checking in the Wikipedia, he is still a Republican, when perhaps slightly better than others,
except that it also becomes a "whip" here for that of leadership.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whip_(politics)

So sad for still only politicians appointing judges to their position, except the wrangling for that of similar opinion or leadership.

But here president Biden now signing an Executive Order for that of preventing such a thing happening in the future.

My own country is based on a three-part system for that of governing, in order to avoid or prevent similar misuse of power,
except that perhaps even an Executive Order might not be of any help.

The problem is that possible leadership could help stand against possible dictators abroad, except still not helping at home.

Most ordinary people, including women, thinks that abortion should be their own choice, except still in consultation with a doctor.

So therefore still wacky for the whole thing, except Republicans for the same, when being elected by means of the US Senate.

Perhaps Supreme Court Justices should be elected by Congress, and not the Senate, for not making it any election here instead.

Perhaps sitting judges, for not any sitting in the Senate, because I know it became a little poorly formulated.

Thankfully high judges here don't get positions for life and are held to strict accounts or they're out.

How are High Court Justices appointed in Australia?

Judiciary of Australia.

I'm sorry, but the U.S. system totally sucks.

It is the US Senate which appoints Supreme Court Justices to their job, not a sitting president.

This is incorrect. The president appoints them; the senate approves or denies the appointment. This is as per the US Constitution Article II, Section 2:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court...

Consent of the Senate = the senate votes to confirm or deny.

We can also add another important and contentious detail: Article III, Section 1:

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

As "shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour" is the only mention in the document of any length of term, thus all federal justices' appointments are of indefinite length (ie for life or until resignation) unless "good Behaviour" has been determined to have ceased via impeachment and conviction by the senate. This has only happened once, with Samuel Chase's impeachment in 1805, which he was acquitted of by the senate anyway. (Incidentally it was for making politically biased rulings... could use a few more of those but they'd probably end up with the same result right now.)
