The BBC says a young person has come forward to make complaints about the presenter at the centre of the scandal over alleged payments to a teenager for explicit images.

The young person, who has no connection to the first and is in their early 20s, told BBC News the two connected on a dating app but never met.

When the person hinted online that they might reveal the presenters identity, they were sent abusive, expletive-filled messages that frightened them and they remain scared of the presenter.

BBC News said it had verified that the messages were sent from a phone number belonging to the presenter.....

Members of a major trans-Pacific trade pact have said they were gathering information on China, Taiwan and other countries interested in joining the agreement to see whether they were able to meet the group's "high standards".

The comments followed the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) meeting in Auckland.

At the meeting, Britain formally signed the treaty to become a member and a decision to review and update the agreement was also made.

Along with China and Taiwan, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Uruguay and Ecuador have also applied to join.

A decision on who will join and when will be made collectively.

"The membership is currently undertaking an information-gathering process on whether aspirant economies can meet the CPTPP's high standards, taking into account their experience on their trade commitments," the members said in a joint statement.

The CPTPP is a landmark trade pact agreed in 2018 between 11 countries including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

China's application to join the pact is now next in line if they are dealt with in the order they were received, but the country faces a number of hurdles to be included.....

The CEO of one of Australia's major consulting firms has admitted to a Senate committee his position is not worthy of a salary seven times that of the prime minister's.

Four executives from Deloitte fronted a Monday public hearing into the integrity of consulting firms that provide services to the federal government.

The inquiry was launched in response to what has become known as the "PwC tax scandal", which involved senior partners misusing confidential government information to help big multinational companies avoid paying more tax.

In Deloitte's first appearance before the committee, the top brass were slammed by both senators Deborah O'Neill and Barbara Pocock for being opaque about salaries and employee misconduct.

The committee asked for an anonymised breakdown of how many Deloitte employees earned more than $1 million but chairman Tom Imbesi said that could not be provided due to commercial sensitivities.

"So, providing the number of people in million-dollar bands is something you're not comfortable giving to the Australian public given that last year you took $712 million of public money?" Senator Pocock said.

Eventually, CEO Adam Powick told the hearing the average base salary of a partner at Deloitte was between $500,000 and $600,000.

It has been publicly reported Mr Powick earns around $3.5 million, which Senator O'Neill went on to grill him about.

"Are you really worth seven times the salary of the Australian prime minister?" she asked.

"No," he answered.

"I happen to deeply recognise that I'm incredibly privileged to earn what I do for what I do."......

A federal senator says reports of a former Deloitte partner leaking confidential defence documents demonstrate the "threat" consulting firms pose to Australia.

Former Deloitte consultant David Milo used confidential government documents to try and win work for his new consulting firm Synergy 360, according to Nine News reports on Thursday.

In 2018, a year after leaving Deloitte, Mr Milo reportedly sent private military documents to Synergy 360 colleagues who were trying to win major military contracts at the time.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Deloitte said it had made Defence aware of the matter.

"It appears shortly before he left the firm David Milo transferred information from his Deloitte email to his personal email. Deloitte had no knowledge of this activity nor of these emails," the statement read.....

I've noticed that in the U.S. some universities have been accused of being racist over their admission policies. But could it just be that certain races are not studying the right subjects in high school?

An interesting observation in the US, in high school maths is taught in sections such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus etc.
It has been observed that in high school, Calculus has been completed by:

46 percent of Asian,
18 percent of white students,
9 percent of Hispanic students,
6 percent of Black students, of high school graduates,

When the universities haven't been, it's just the applicants have not gained the right subjects to study maths, science and engineering.

It would be interesting to see the comparison between STEM & non-STEM subjects for the various ethnic groups, and then plot that against "aspirational subject" at university.
