Did Google and their automated 'artificial intelligence' (AI) go too far.... Google has closed the account of a user who sent a photograph of his son's inflamed groin to a doctor. It's sticking by the closure despite |

Some people are aptly named, but in the wrong sense and in the wrong "job": https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-62692063 (Until recently town & city councilors were not "employed", but did get some money when they performed council duties - this person appears to have made being a councillor a full time job. I worked with two council leaders from opposite sides of the political spectrum, and neither had a high opinion of the concept of "professional councillors".) Another reason why we shouldn't be dealing with Saudi Arabia. YouTube - Saudi officials appear to beat women at orphanage as footage sparks outcry Take note, it comes with warning about the violence. |

Of all the stupidest solutions to a problem that I heard this would have to be 1 of the worst. A New Jersey Town Cut Down All Their Trees to "Deter Homeless," They're Part of A Bigger Trend. What are they thinking? |

Unintended effects Ban single use plastic bags So we now have multiple use bags which we are supposed to take back to the store and use again. But many people do shopping online and the shopping is delivered every time in new multiple use bags. So what do these online shoppers do with the once used multiple use bags piling up in the garage/basement/etc.? |

Unintended effects Another 'unintended consequence' : customers stealing shopping baskets. Have not noticed it here though. |

Unintended effects Hum, here the stores don't let customers out the door with them. The clerk snags it off the belt and stuffs it away before the customer can attempt a theft. |

Unintended effects Here in the Dallas-Fort metro area and probably in other major cities the grocery stores have embedded anti-theft sensors in the shopping carts that will lock the wheels of the cart if they try and remove it from the parking lot. Seen in use also at local Target & Wal-Mart stores. Fun to watch the dolts trying to push/get past perimeter of lot and suddenly the wheels lock and they keep trying multiple times with no luck. |

Years ago I worked at a university. It was a twenty minute walk to the nearest supermarket, and just a couple more minutes to three more. Enterprising students would go shopping, first to only one that didn't have a coin in the slot to collect a couple of trolleys. Then the shopping began, one trolley would head to the cheapest booze shop and get loaded, the other would tour the supermarkets to gather whatever else was needed at the lowest prices. The two trolleys would then head back to the university halls and join the rest of their friends in one of the car parks. Not too bad as a couple of times a term someone would load the mountain of trolleys into his van and take them back to the town centre and leave them there. Then the mechanical engineers decided it was time to do a bit of testing by propelling them off the roof of the halls. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62769675 So why the **** are food prices in the shops still shooting up like a celebratory firework? Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Because word has gone out that there's inflation about? Store buyers are expecting it, so wholesalers can charge what they like. Pure psychology. |

Because word has gone out that there's inflation about? Store buyers are expecting it, so wholesalers can charge what they like. Pure psychology.Yep, but also shops as well. Have to admit I fell for it as well. However, even though I've always been cost conscious, the cost of living crisis, has focused thoughts on a lot of things. Recently it was on milk. Just before Covid hit our local shop was doing a regular deal on 2L bottles. Normally £1.20 each but get 2x2L for £2. Not bad. Just before end of the 1st lockdown, it went up to £2.10 & by the end of the second, £2.20. There was an elephant in the room that was invisible to me. By the start of last year, it jumped to £2.40 & continued to do so & around Xmas it hit £3 & now sits at £3.20. Just after the new year, needed milk so popped over to shop. all the 2L bottles only had 2/3 days left & knew that I would not go through 4L so got a 6L. Been buying 6L at a time since. Here's the elephant. 3x2x2L £9.60 2x6L £5.38. 6L has only gone up 0.09 this year to £2.69 from £2.60. Before then I don't know what price it was. The elephant was always there if one works out the cost per litre. |

Ah, tax increases ... don't you just love the GOP? Promise one thing, do the opposite. libertarian, Sheldon Richman wrote: TEFRA the largest tax increase in American history.signed by President Ronald Reagan on September 3, 1982. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/reality-check-ronald-reagan-increased-taxes-and-liberalized-abortion-as-cas-governor/1971524/ wrote: In 1967, then-Governor Reagan signed into law a tax increase that actually amounted to the largest tax hike in the state’s history. Both environmental and public enemy number 1? How a Billionaire’s “Attack Philanthropy” Secretly Funded Climate Denialism and Right-Wing Causes. In the mid-2000s, Barre Seid had begun thinking about how to leave a legacy. Riding the personal computer boom, the Chicago-based electronics magnate was on his way to becoming a billionaire. Seid, who considers himself a libertarian, now had the means to pursue a bold project: “attack philanthropy.” |

Yet another example of Big Profits and the consequences be damned... Software fees to make up 10% of John Deere's revenues by 2030 1.5 million machines and half a billion acres of land connected to the John Deere Operations Center within a matter of years ... What could possible go wrong across over 50% of USA agriculture?... All in our deadly greedy world... WTF? Just pull his teeth out. Harvey Weinstein asks judge for a private dentist appointment or fake teeth so he can look more 'presentable' before sex crimes trial: 'This situation is an emergency'. He certainly doesn't need anything else for court. |
