There's a very simple fix for that, don't get a smartphone. You'll also stay brighter for longer as it's a known fact that smartphones can make a person very stupid. ;-) |

I have been known to educate my brain with better information from my smartphone. As for tracking. It’s a given. |

Disable GPS. Amazing how much more battery life. Even better airplane mode then power off. My flip phone does get carried along, it is nice to call emergency services when necessary. Then again I'm not hooked/addicted to endless scroll sites. |

Disable GPS. Amazing how much more battery life. Even better airplane mode then power off. Yep, i only charge once a week. As for tracking, how many people are using navigation in their car ? It uses GPS too. And credit card is best for tracking. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I should care about this, I know, but I don't really. I suppose it's because I have a very dull, boring life. Also, I almost never go anywhere. I mean anywhere. I have depression and chronic fatigue, so I stay home unless I absolutely have to go out. (For example, I will need to go out to get my car inspected very soon.) I have even started relying on having groceries delivered rather than going shopping myself. That being said, my smartphone (an iPhone 11 at present) does many good things for me. For example, my Internet provider sucks, so I seldom get service good enough to watch streaming shows. I can, however, watch them all, from any streaming service, using my cell phone (data). I don't feel bad about this because I watch a lot of true-story stuff and documentaries. It also has tools to identify plants and animals (insects, mostly) that I don't recognize. It also has various weather apps that show me weather radar and warn of approaching storms. I could go on, but I won't. Point is, the smartphone isn't just something used to scroll through Facebook and other time-wasting apps. It comes down to self-control. I suppose some people don't have it. For those, there are the simplest cell phones. You don't take your phone out when you go? Perhaps you don't have any important personal contacts who might need to reach you. That's okay. They can leave a message on your answering machine at home. In the past, I have taken a wrong turn or two and really appreciated that I had GPS to guide me back to the correct path. Or I used it to find an obscure location that I'd not visited before. Again, I won't prattle on. There are a LOT of uses for a smartphone that don't make you stupid. If you truly think a smartphone will make you stupid, you're doing it wrong. ~Sue~ |

I stream a bunch of stuff too. I use a screen mirror tool that goes in my iPhone lightening port. It converts it to HDMI which I connect to my video projector to get a 130 inch screen image and much better sound quantity. |

Hmm. I know this is not the place for this, but I came here to see if my avatar has changed. I tried to change it but it doesn't seem to be changing. I even deleted it completely and then uploaded the new avatar, to no avail. Damn. Took the size down smaller than my current avatar. Kept clicking "update." Nothing happens. Nothing. WTF? ~Sue~ |

Cleared my cache and now I see my new avatar. I hate being stupid about something so simple. (sigh) Thanks, Grumpy Swede. It was your link that made me think of this. Back to discussing smartphones. ~Sue~ |

More than just spying going on. Apple security flaw could allow hackers to control people's iPhones. Experts says users should update their software now. This also includes iPads and Apple computers. Cheers. |
