And the climb/crawl/race back home has resulted in another step back for Putin - he's pulling out of a major city - Kherson.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63573387

Indeed, if this little snippet from the linked article is true it's a really big "kick in the Gulags" for USSR Russia:
The announcement came shortly after Russian media said the deputy leader of Kherson, Kirill Stremousov, had been killed in a car crash. Seen as one of the main cheerleaders of the occupation of Kherson, he had warned only six days ago that it was "most likely" that Russian forces would have to cross to the eastern bank.

For years they have viewed Mr Putin as a master strategist, as someone who always manages to come out on top… as a winner. They have looked on him as the lynchpin of the system of which they are part and which has been built around him.
Retreat Hell, it's just a "strategic withdrawal" :-)
Wasn't the same said of Hitler?
It took 10 years (1933-43} before he lost the plot, it's only taken Poo tin 9 months.

As Pootin retreats into his bunker, the question becomes:

What replaces him?

I'd say Puking lost the plot about ten years ago in the run up to invading Crimea, others may say it was a few years before that by looking at Georgia and Chechnya..... (Maybe he's never actually found "the plot", and only really wants to go down as "something big" in Russia.)

Snip
"something big"
Yep, good comedy that was starring: Dean Martin, Brian Keith, Ben Johnson & Honor Blackman.
Don't think Puking will see it that way. :-)

What PooTin expected, but his war criminals didn't get, the Ukrainian army did as the celebrations continue in Kherson.

Ukrainians Celebrate in the Streets After Russian Retreat From Kherson.

Ukrainian police, TV broadcasts return to long-occupied city.

And just to add to PooTin's woes.

Map Shows Ukraine Defeating Russia, With 50 Percent of Territory Reclaimed.

While PooTin State TV Host Furious at Kherson Retreat: 'Blew Up the Bridges'.

No wonder PooTin has gone underground instead of attending the G20.

Destroying infrastructure while retreating is an indication of not planning to return any day soon. It is also a way of slowing the restoration of "normal times" to the civilian population on the assumption that at sometime in the not too distant future that population will decide that things were better under the invading regime.

They also relocated the bones and a statue of Prince Potemkin (1739-1791) and monuments of other 18th century russian military commanders who conquered Crimea and (today's) southern Ukraine from the Ottoman Empire. These artifacts should be returned [to Kherson] "when the city is safer", some pro-russian proxy governor expressed. Potemkin's legacy is the basis of russian ideology of reclaiming Crimea and Novorossiya, which Russia has been expressing ever more aggressively in recent years.
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/10/28/europe/potemkin-remains-removed-kherson-ukraine-russia-intl/index.html

It is safe to assume that these plans will turn out to be Potemkin villages themselves.

Has Pukin' just named the next major city for Ukraine to re-take?
(from Sky News rolling news so nothing to link to easily)
The UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has released its latest intelligence report on the war in Ukraine.

It states that after abandoning the southern city of Kherson city, Russia forces have now made the port town of Henichesk, which sits along the Aov Sea, a "temporary capital" of the occupied region.

At least two dead after missiles land in NATO state Poland on Ukraine border

Two people have been killed in Poland after two stray rockets landed near the border with Ukraine.

It has not yet been confirmed if the rockets landed in the NATO state as a result of Russia's mass bombardment of Ukrainian cities earlier today, which saw over 100 rockets launched.

Poland's Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has convened the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Defense Affairs "as a matter of urgency", government spokesman Piotr Müller confirmed, with local news sites claiming this is likely the result of the explosions.

The Daily Express? That needs confirming with multiple sources, for a claim as serious as that. Hold your fire until then.

NATO and Poland Say Deadly Blast Was Likely Unintentional

Poland’s president and the secretary general of NATO said Wednesday that it appears that a Ukrainian air defense missile most likely unintentionally caused a deadly explosion on its territory a day earlier.

President Andrzej Duda noted that Russian forces had launched a barrage of missile strikes on Ukraine on Tuesday. He said that early indications suggested that Ukrainian efforts to counter the barrage had caused an “unfortunate accident” in Poland — not a direct attack on his country.

Er.... even if it were a Russian missile, there was only evidence it was unintentional anyway. Because it is now indicated it was not from there, I removed "Russian" from the previous taglines.

... an “unfortunate accident” in Poland...

One very interesting observation is that the blast site is exactly:

    Due north of Lviv;
    Due west of Kyiv...

Some Russian myopic targeting squaddie dyslexic with their X's and Y's, Lattitude and Longitude, Lviv and Kyiv?...

And are there not two craters and are those craters not extraordinarily large (far too large) to have been caused by an air defense missile?...

Stay safe folks!

The norm is to launch at least two missiles against a single target, so two holes is quite possible. Each missile has a warhead of 100-150kg of explosive, so the size of hole is not exactly a surprise, especially if it was coming in at a high angle into soft ground.
