With 2 lanes of the road bridge gone (how damaged the other 2 lanes are yet to be determined) and by the time that the fire on the rail bridge goes out I doubt that the spans there would be all that strong anymore, but what timing to blow it just as a fuel train was passing by.

Both sides of the road bridge have collapsed, and the integrity of the rail bridge will be compromised as concrete starts loosing its strength if heated to about 250C, so I am told, and diesel burns at 1300C which is enough to melt the rebar.

It was the main transport link into Crimea and southern Ukraine so supplies of every kind will be hampered. Making the problems for the Russians in Kherson even greater.

It's certainly going to make life very interesting for the occupiers of Crimea now.

Three people died in the explosion on the road and rail bridge linking Russia to Crimea, Russia's Investigative Committee says.

They are believed to be passengers of a car that was near a lorry which Russia says exploded just after 06:00 local time this morning and led to oil tankers on the rail section catching fire.

"The bodies of two victims, a man and a woman, have already been recovered from the water and their identities are being established," the committee added.

It says investigators have found details of the truck and its owner - registered in Russia's southern Krasnodar region - and a search of his home is now underway.

How are they going to do that evacuation as all the river bridges are out of commission, and most crossings are by barge which get sunk frequently.
One of the reasons why the Russians are in such a bad state that side of the river is because they cannot get supplies, one of the reason Russians are abandoning fighting vehicles, no fuel.

It was a brilliant Ukrainian move to make a push towards Kherson, so that the Russians would send thousands of troops there, and then the Ukrainians trapped them by destroying the bridges.
