Wild claims have now been made by state TV over the sinking of their prized warship.

Russians have claimed World War III has been triggered by the sinking of its Black Sea warship as it launches brutal revenge for the Ukrainian victory.

Russian state TV propagandists outrageously claimed World War III had begun as they ranted at the West after the sinking of prized warship Moskva.

Hundreds of sailors were believed to have died after 12,500-ton Moskva was hit by a devastating missile strike, The Sun reported.

There were rumours the missiles were provided by NATO supporters of Ukraine, and Britain has sent anti-ship weapons.

But sources insisted the Slava-class cruiser was sunk by Ukraine-made Neptune missiles after its radar was distracted by a Turkish-made Byraktar drone.

A Pentagon official briefing reporters said Ukraine had hit the Moskva with two Neptunes — contradicting Russia’s claim that the ship lost balance in rough seas as it was towed to port after ammunition exploded.....

I ordinarily don't condone assassination to remove a dictator but if the alternative is to bring nuclear war to the people of Russia, whose only crime was to elect him in the first place then send in the hit squads and take the guy out like we did Bin-Laden. I don't see where there is much other choice. Either deal with him now or wait till he recovers full control and pay the price later.

Hey, Prime Minister Trudeau: I disagree with many of your policies and didn't vote for you, but opposing thugs who invade sovereign nations in order to annex them, purposely murder innocent citizens including women and children and destroy their homes, businesses and even hospitals, and bully the world with nuclear threats, is the best use of my tax dollars I could think of. The EU is asking its citizens to drive less, turn down air conditioning and work from home three days a week, to reduce reliance on Russian energy...

... Buying energy from Russia helps to support its economy and finance the war in Ukraine.

But Europe has said it cannot find alternative supplies, so it is asking citizens to adjust their lifestyles. The nine-point plan, entitled “Playing My Part”, urges citizens to drive less, by using public transport, or working from home three days a week.

It also calls on citizens to:

• Heat their homes less in winter, and turn the air conditioning down in summer.
  
• Drive more slowly on highways, with the car air conditioning turned down, which uses less fuel
  
• Use the train instead of flying
  
• Travel by public transport, walk, or cycle
  

It also calls on cities to promote car-free Sundays, as some already do...

However, for that to work, we really do need to get the buy-in also from all our greedy bosses...


Here's hoping we really can quickly come clean of Putin's blood money and go green and healthy.

A few observations and questions.

Use train instead of plane? For son train means going via London and changing station etc. Plane goes almost to his doorstep at both ends, Knutsford and Crawley.

Is heating/aircon more costly for many homes vs fewer workplaces?

What if walking/cycling involves steep hills and takes too much time. Public transport takes one and half hours, assuming the first bus actually arrives and if it does is not more than 15 mins late. Travel by car is under 30 mins without exceeding speed limits, most of journey is on 40 or 50 mph roads, not towns.

I'm putting this here, but it might have nothing to do directly with Ukraine.
