Pasadena Freeway, er now Hysterical Arroyo Seco Parkway.

So the specs say ~28mpg (best figure seen) and 21 gallon tank, so about 560 miles/ full tank. And you admit to going fast so probably more like 18 mpg, 360 miles/tank full.

I think you must have filled up half way along your journey and forgotten about it.

I'm going to revise my numbers, further looking says the 5-speed Borg-Warner model overall consumption is quoted at 11.5 l/100km that's equal to 20.5 mpg (U.S.).
Therefore the max distance for a full tank is less than 440 miles.

Therefore your beliefs are defying physics.

I wouldn't even try to claim that sort of fuel consumption from my Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF, also with 5 speed gearbox, that weighed 900 kg compare to the more than 1200 kg of your Datsun.
Engine size and weight the Datsun is closer to my next car a Dino 246gt which struggled to do much more than 250 miles on a tankful.

I just don't believe that site as every other one I visited gives much lower figures.
I did see one that I trust in the UK and that quotes

but that is UK government so at best that's 23 mpg U.S.
And UK government figures are notoriously terrible, because they use a rolling road, not real life conditions, and therefore no one believes them because they are way to optimistic. The magazines numbers while they had the car worked out at 19-20 mpg.

Plus a Complete Fill-Up - I would Guess is more than Tank Size. Gas Fill all da Way Up to Inlet.

Once a battery is available that has a higher energy-mass ratio than gasoline, is rechargeable for the operating life of the vehicle without replacement, is operable at wide temperature ranges and safe from fires etc., what possible objections could you have to that?

There's a new battery technology that's just coming into limited production - Lithium Titanate (LTO).
Initial testing suggests that it has a far wider temperature range (-30C to +80C) than current LiFeO and LiPoly batteries (both 0C to 80C), far less likely to go on fire (reportedly similar to r better than lead-acid types), far higher charge and discharge rates and about t times the number of charge cycles. Sounds great, but there are two draw backs, a lower charge density than LiFeO or LiPoly, and a lower cell voltage (2.3V vs 3.7V). Thus one needs a bigger volume of cells for a given kW rating, so probably so suitable for mobile applications yet.
