Don't forget the RV's & Caravans. ICV ones already have solar, for the cabin electric. There are places where you can't run the generator due to noise regulations. |

Far far far less of a problem compared to the spectacular car exploding gas tank... Well ... Bullet into gas tank ... bullet discharges its static charge as it strikes the outside of the metal tank and is fully grounded bullet enters tank into the liquid bullet slows to stop and drops to bottom of tank gas pours out hole onto the earth Bullet into lion battery ... bullet deforms the first layer as is begins it journey shorting it and beginning a high discharge event as bullet passes through each subsequent layer it shorts it bullet comes to stop shorting many layers and melts fusing the layers energy release rate is above burning black powder and the Hollywood special effect is reality. |

Ok... So that is a fair reality for the present gen batteries. But isn't that only a problem for the (Hollywood Wild West "Freedoms" Lovin' Guns Lovin') USA? There are already improvements coming to production to improve resilience and range and recharge rate. At least we don't have the greater real world problem of fuel-frugal idiots walking around sloshing Molotov cocktails to fill up on the side of the road or in tunnels so as to scrape that last mile home... Or encouraging the all-too-many medical emergencies from idiots trying to siphon fuel using their own mouths...! Or yet more idiots filling (non-petroleum rated) plastic containers with fuel... And enjoying a lighted fag whilst watching the plastic container dissolve in their hands... There are many ways to live well! Enjoy! CHARGING STATIONs I Hear VP BLAH is IN CHARGE of Their Future Implementation. A HUGE Open Air Shopping Center a Few Miles from Home has ONE CHARGING STATION I've Noticed. It's On Perifery of Parking Area for Pet Smart; LOWEs; JC Penny; and Few Other Well Knowns. Has 'bout 10 Chargers. Sometimes No Cars; One; up to 6 I've Seen Zapping Up over da Years. SO, It is a Couple Hundred Yards WALKING Distance to da Big Stores Nearby and a Little Shorter Walk to Smaller Stores across Main Drag. Many Stores are a GOoD QUARTER MILE Away. Quite a Walk. There is NO RIDEs to Stores. YOU WALK!!!!!! HOW LONG are People Going to PUT UP with this MASSIVELY LONG WALK to Any Store in This HUGE COMPLEX? This is One Big HEADACHE and BODY ACHE fo MANY PEOPLE. GAS Powered Cars Park CLOSE to STORE. ELECTRIC VEHICLEs ON CHARGE in da BOONIEs BABY!!!!!!!! I Predict Heart Attacks and Other Physical Hurts and Pains With LAWSUITs BABY!!!!!! Of Course da SMART ONEs with ALWAYs ENOUGH Charge can Park Like da GASSERs Do. CLOSE BABY!!!!!!!! A quarter of a mile is NOT a long walk. I also have bad knees, and at least once a week, usually twice, I walk to my local shops and carry the shopping, fresh milk and veg being the order of the day, home, which are, according to google maps, 600 mtrs away by the crow flys, and have no problems, N.B. I am older than you. |

A quarter of a mile is NOT a long walk. From Observations I've made ThroughOut Life - People will Go Round and Round and Round Parking Area to Get CLOSEST they can to Store Entrance. They'll Burn Up a Tank of Gas or DEPLETE Batteries to Do So. I Always Park in Outer Reaches and Skateboard or Roller Skate to Entrance. Sometimes I POGO Stick It. But What Do I Know? I recently watched a YouTube video about whether the time for electric vehicles is upon us. According to the producers of this video there are certain trip points around which the switch to all electric vehicles will happen. They are, in no particular order, (price) the tipping point for price is, according to this program, approximately $33,000 which has been achieved. (range) the tipping point for range (in the USA) is around 350 miles on a single charge, which again has been met with some cars, (infrastructure) the availability of charging stations that can deliver a reasonably fast energy transfer. This is the fly in the ointment, again at least in the USA. In the USA there are four different styles of charging ports and they are all mutually exclusive. In some cases adapters are available at a considerable price but not all systems can be adapted to all other systems. In the E.U. the governments have all joined together to mandate a single style charging port throughout Europe. Also in Europe not many places are that far from any other place. Here in the USA there are still many places that are way more than 350 miles from any other population center. Small towns are not as likely to have charging stations set up and ready to go as the cost of setting up a charging station is well over $500,00. So it is infrastructure that is likely to keep places like the USA, Australia and for the most part Russia and China using gasoline for quite a while longer. This is why I also think hybrid cars will be the best choice for motorists in the foreseeable future.
