The WCG is currently out of service due to network failure. We are working on resolving it and we will update you with further information.

All subdomains of *.worldcommunitygrid.org which includes the upload, download, and scheduler URLs are currently experiencing an outage due to a networking failure. We are working to resolve this issue and bring the system back online ASAP. New information will be shared here.

IMHO, I think Krembil has overstated quite a few accomplishments in this email just received from WCG...

We cannot thank you enough for your dedication to science and your support of the Grid during the transition from IBM.

Finally, with a functioning infrastructure and critical issues resolved we are ready to reboot the World Community Grid!

Your ongoing support and feedback during the transition from IBM has been invaluable to the scientists who rely on us. Together we improved the Grid’s functionality and efficiency by targeting our limited technical resources, and while we certainly encountered more obstacles and challenges than we anticipated we are here now because of your patience and persistence.

There is work that remains to be done. In particular, while we were able to restore the My Contribution page functionality and you may have noticed that results over the past 2 days are now reflected - we must now carefully iterate through a modified version of the stats update procedure to add back each day that was missed. The results tab of the My Contribution page does reflect accurately the validation status and assigned credit of your workunits.

When complete stats are available we will begin a grace period for streaks of one month, extend all streaks that were active before the transition, and finally restore the normal cacluation of streaks when the grace period ends.

Finally, we are preparing a well deserved Badge of Honor for all the volunteers who submitted a valid result during the transition and testing phase, yourself included. We are also preparing yet another badge for all citizen scientists who join or return to the grid before the New Year.

Our research partners - the ARP, HSTB, MCM, OPN1 and SCC research teams - would like to extend their sincere thanks for seeing them through this crisis. As scientists ourselves at the Jurisica Lab and also one of the scientific teams of the WCG, we are proud to count you among our colleagues in science and look forward to working with you as we expand WCG operations. While returning and maintaining the full capacity of the Grid is our mandate, we will now be preparing to onboard new projects.

I got the email too. quite a lot to promise for that group, but they do seem to get there in the end, just a LOT slower than we would like. The website is down for me right now, so I thought I'd pop in here. I did get a new WU when I asked a little while ago, so it is just the website.

Work units are flowing, with a few (more than I like) re-tries.
Website has shuffled off into the long grass, hopefully it will find its way out of the rough soon.

Good news.
However, with 44 days to its 18th birthday, I very much doubt it will be up to the task of the Birthday Challenge.

Ha - I don't know if it will EVER have enough stability and robust enough server farm to withstand a challenge. I do hope it will be stable enough for regular science load though.

I'm getting an error trying to log in to WCG right now. sigh.

I was so excited to get the email because I thought that meant that they were close to ending testing phase. Then they had to walk that back on the forums. They are really really bad at communication.

Got 20 OPNG WCG tasks running on my GTX 1650 GPU board.

Last month after seeing that tasks are becoming more available, Opened up the project.
Got 100+ MCM tasks, no problem.
Did hit a snag. It would not accept the use of local prefs.
No prob, just check out web prefs.
Oops, set to 100%.
Changed to 50%. No effect, so set NNT & ran them out.
Decided to give it another shot.
Got 101 tasks, all MCM.
Same issue & changing web prefs yet again is having no effect.

So, we'll see.

With this issue & the cost of living/energy issues atm, if no change, I won't be coming back to the project.

I hear your frustration and don't blame you for wanting to bail out due to Krembil's total incompetence and lack of decent communication with users.

Active Users continues to drop like a rock for WCG!

I am running WCG on three PCs, one Windows 10 and two Windows 11. I see no problem even if running OPNG on two Nvidia boards and one Raitheon GPU.

WCG went down over 24 hours ago and STILL down due to HARDWARE ISSUES - RAID Controller(s) waiting to be fixed...
