I got this link via a mailing list: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/11-things-to-do-when-you-get-windows-11 Seems like a reasonable checklist - you may not feel like checking every one of them, but worth preserving for when the day comes. |

How to roll back Windows 11 and return to Windows 10 NOTE: YOU ONLY HAVE 10 DAYS AFTER THE UPDATE TO REVERT BACK For 10 days after Microsoft replaces Windows 10 with Windows 11, users may roll back to the previous OS using recovery files stored on their hard drives. After only 10 days, those files are not useable and will eventually be deleted to reclaim some storage space. Within those 10 days, however, the recovery process is relatively painless. |

Oops! Microsoft has done it again. Expired cert breaks Windows 11 snipping tool, emoji panel, S Mode features, other stuff And we're talking about shipped code, not some Insider beta, here It has proved an unfortunate Halloween for Microsoft, with the ghost of an expired certificate haunting Windows 11 users. The upshot is: various built-in programs may stop working properly or cannot be opened at all. |

My QuChemPedIA@home project which was stopped on September 30 for a security certificate issue, then solved by Dave Anderson with the 7.11.20 versionof Boinc, is crunching happily on Windows 11 home edition. Tullio |

How Windows 11 makes updates so much smaller Basically, Microsoft is using a newer feature they started using on Windows 10 called "differentials" by only downloading patch files with instructions on what needs to be changed in specific files. |

And Microsoft descends back into anti-competitive dirty old ways: Microsoft blocks workarounds that let user{s} avoid Edge browser in Windows 11 wrote: ... Microsoft appears to have taken some more aggressive steps in its efforts to push Windows 11 users to adopt its Edge browser... ... Except... The Microsoft patching of the zero-day exploits has opened up a whole new zero-day wider exploit...! New Windows Installer Zero-Day Exploit Is {Out} in the Wild wrote: A recently disclosed Microsoft Windows Installer zero-day vulnerability is now being explored by malware creators. Publicly disclosed by security researcher Abdelhamid Naceri on a Github post last Sunday, the vulnerability allows for local privilege escalation from user-level privileges up to SYSTEM level - the highest security clearance possible. According to the security researcher, this exploit works in all supporting versions of Windows - including fully-patched Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 installations. Before posting the exploit on GitHub, Naceri first disclosed it to Microsoft and worked with the company to analyze the vulnerability... Also note: New Windows zero-day with public exploit lets you become an admin wrote: ... When BleepingComputer asked Naceri why he publicly disclosed the zero-day vulnerability, we were told he did it out of frustration over Microsoft's decreasing payouts in their bug bounty program. How cheap can Microsoft push their non-QA?... For how expensive for the consequences for their users/customers?... IT is what we make it...
