Well impressed for how far your group adventured to pick up a jab!

In meager comparison, I've only a 30mins drive for my next jabs.

Stay healthy!

Well after a bit 4 over months I'm still waiting for my government call up for the AZ jab, so when the chemist chain over there started up their roll out we all jumped on it. I wonder if I'll hear from the government's local travelling jab circus before I get my 2nd jab.

Anyhow, it's time for my 3rd (& last) coffee break for the morning. ;-)

[edit] After that I'll go for a wander up to the local chemist shop before any rain turns up.

Cheers.

Winning as the sun sets on another Thorsday in the highlands down under.

I wonder if I'll hear from the government's local travelling jab circus before I get my 2nd jab.
Jokingly I said to those on the bus on the way back from getting the jab,"I bet those circus people will ring me this week" (a couple of the others were also thinking the same thing), and they rang me this afternoon for an appointment next week. I don't think that she was all that happy about hearing what 17 of us did because we just got sick of waiting.

Cheers.

Lost along long corridors that time has forgotten, shepherding the occasional lost soul onwards along their mission...

What of any signs of life or location?...

... The painters have painted over everything and there's no budget for any new signings...!

Edit: Some people do get stressed and bewildered and grumpy very quickly!

There wasn't a budget for the painters NOT to paint around the signs. But the money spent on the extra paint of painting over them consumed the money that was set aside for new signs.....

Painters are paid to paint... And not to think much (at least around here)...

Unfortunately, Management doesn't think much either and even less of painters and so most likely there was noone assigned to supervise or oversee anything.

And I've found the "Facilities Management" to simply not think at all... (Apart for when it is due for their next tea break...)

For an old example:

Still bemused from some time ago when 'Facilities' installed a backup generator...

I'd carefully specced up the capacity and startup time and the power change-over specs. I'd even added up the power-factor correction and included some further additional good spare capacity knowing full well that some other jokers would want to tap onto it. I lost the argument about keeping the diesel tank full (manglement had some crazy idea of everyone rushing out on some inevitable stormy wet Sunday night to buy plastic 5 litre fuel cans to fill up at whatever 24-hour supermarket that is not so nearby to then somehow bucket chain keep the generator going...).

What could possibly go wrong. What could I have possibly missed explicitly speccing for a mains failure backup generator?

(Apart from the lack of fuel at some petrol/diesel/lpg stations over the recent two weeks here! We've got a shortage of delivery drivers...)

The generator was installed and was tested fine, and everyone was happy.

I insisted on doing an out-of-hours dummy run to check the change-over switchgear (not that I'm at all suspicious about electricians...). Much grumbling later, an early evening test was set.

At the allotted moment, the Facilities Manager pulled the lever to trip the main circuit breaker. There was a clunk. My suspicions were expecting a bang-flash and smoke and the fire brigade, but...

There was nothing.

Silence.

And continued silence.

And still silence.

Thankfully, the UPSes were working fine but the backup generator hadn't even attempted to start.

Mains was manually reapplied and with some puzzlement, we went home. I didn't need to say anything... I hung around until at least one of the UPSes had recharged. All was fine on that count so at least no damage done.

... The generator that had been installed was not designed for off-grid operation!

Worse still, that particular generator's safety system required mains to be in place before even opening the fuel valve!!

It seems that Thor has finally played himself out now while the showers have thinned out (or have been blown away by this gale), but everytime that sun peeks out I can hear that grass outside growing.

Thankfully none of those storms cells hit here, but Armidale just down the road a bit wasn't so lucky.

Anyhow it's time for my last coffee break of the morning and figure out if I find something else to do.

Cheers.

Arr in the Dark, I had to call the fuzz on some idiot about said idiots noise machine, I think the fuzz got the idiots attention as it's now quiet...

I told dispatch that my grandpa would have done something, as it was disturbing the peace, not just mine I might add, calling the manager did nothing,
being in a home with no windows that could be used to look up or down the road and being disabled someone did something.

The clouds and drizzle have cleared away leaving a sunny day (it's just a shame about the gale that's still blowing outside) while Dog is happy to roam about the backyard after a few days on her chain (I'm sure that she'll find some mud to deposit on any visitors turning up here today).

Anyhow it's now LLB time here and being Good Friday that could run right into beer o'clock.

Cheers.
