We can also tackle inequalities with improved sick pay and housing and population health. All of this is beneficial over and above Covid. We can do it, but we first need to stop believing in these persistent myths.

Can we convince our Government to promote and follow a healthier path?

Can we convince the unhealthily greedy businesses to be less unhealthy about their profits and business?

Even the World Health Organization doesn't. Their estimate of deaths for 2020 is well over 60% higher than reported. They don't even think the numbers for the America's or Europe are that accurate and the countries in those area's have reasonably good reporting networks. The chances of accurate reporting in area's like Africa are almost non-existent.

A Nature magazine estimates the true death toll is probably closer to 20 million rather than the 5.5 million reported at the end of Jan 2022.

Well that DeSantis fellow in Florida has changed tack with his state's death reporting over the last 2 weeks.

Instead of those huge twice weekly "historic" jumps in the death toll he's now almost doing it daily now while still not showing anything in the daily number column.

Numbers have now gone from 72,246 to 72,443 to 72,704 to 72,767 to 72,828 to 72,880 to 72,946 to 73,018 to 73,134 to 73,136 to 73,244 to 73,282 to 73,290 in that time.

I guess that he's hoping that people will miss the smaller jumps (only if they're as stupid as he is).

Very sadly, that's a lot of voters to have needlessly killed off...

Dr Strain says "in all likelihood, ME and long Covid are the same family of conditions with a different underlying trigger" and many with ME/CFS "are left with symptoms from that for years, if not decades afterwards".

Prof Brightling warns that although society is moving on from the pandemic, there are still large numbers of coronavirus infections and there is still a need to understand the long term implications of being infected and how to treat long Covid.

"There is a real risk of a pretty awful legacy, there is a real chance to get it right, but also a real chance to get it very wrong," he says.
