Gosh, Iceland sits atop the mid-Atlantic ridge where seafloor spreading has been going on long enough the separate the Americas from Europe and Africa. Iceland despite the name is relatively ice free, unlike Greenland which isn't green and is covered in ice. Why do reporters fall for this stuff? It only serves to destroy credibility of AGW's. Or is that the intention?

Iceland has a large (relative to its size) permanent ice filed.
BUT the current eruption is nowhere near the ice field. As you say some journalists get things so wrong you have to ask "Where is their common sense?". Such headlines sit alongside another one about the same eruption to the effect that the eruption is on the main airport's land - well Cobber it's a few tens of km off either airport land or airport flight paths.

And for those that say the current blanket of fog is caused by the volcano - "total rubbish". About ten years ago I had an unplanned overnight in Iceland due to thick fog covering the western third of the country. It should have been a couple of hours on the ground, but I was on the last long-haul in before the weather closed the doors, the aircraft that should have been my onward flight was diverted to somewhere else not in Iceland (Canada, Norway, Scotland?) I just hope the passengers on that flight (and all the other diverted flights) were treated as well as we were.

After I Posted I went Outside and Received TOTAL CONFIRM of My Post.

I go out in Streets front and side of house and Sweep off debri - Twice a day.

A TRASH Truck passed by while out there and IT STUNK. NOT from Engine EXHAUST - There was NOTHING there - CLEAN Breathing for Me -
HOWEVER da TRASH SMELLED like HECK.

NO EXHAUST Fumes. Only Stinky TRASH.

Like I Said. Sweetness of Air - GREEN or FOSSIL. Unless One Goes BACK in TIME - Air is GOoD. REAL GOoD.

GREEN can WAIT - Take Its Time. FOSSIL is doing FINE. REAL FINE. and CLEAN.

‘Zombie ice’ from Greenland will raise sea level 10 inches

Zombie ice from the massive Greenland ice sheet will eventually raise global sea level by at least 10 inches (27 centimeters) on its own, according to a study released Monday.

Zombie or doomed ice is ice that is still attached to thicker areas of ice, but is no longer getting fed by those larger glaciers. That’s because the parent glaciers are getting less replenishing snow. Meanwhile the doomed ice is melting from climate change, said study co-author William Colgan, a glaciologist at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland.

“It’s dead ice. It’s just going to melt and disappear from the ice sheet,” Colgan said in an interview. “This ice has been consigned to the ocean, regardless of what climate (emissions) scenario we take now.”

Study lead author Jason Box, a glaciologist at the Greenland survey, said it is “more like one foot in the grave.”

... Launch a review to ensure the UK is meeting its Net Zero 2050 target in "an economically-efficient way", given the altered economic landscape...

Significantly absent from that is anything to boost making more (non-polluting) green energy available such as to bring forward any new wind or solar or tidal stream power. That £150,000 Million can completely independently power the UK a few times over with that (including power storage requirements).

Worse still, funds are being removed from the existing green energy!

And yet further into fantasy is that any of the fossil fuels expansion (and extra pollution) will be available soon enough to make any useful difference for this winter or for next year!!


The biggest immediate short term wins are to reduce energy usage in the first place by being less wasteful. Better home and industrial insulation is an easy start upon doing that.

A next big win is to IMMEDIATELY REQUIRE ALL new housing to be built to the better standards that were supposedly agreed years ago yet that are still not "voluntarily" implemented...


Meanwhile, our planet burns...

And this is our only one planet.
