That interview gives some good insight with some interesting examples. All in a game of people?

My take on that is that some people are desperate to just believe in whatever it is they believe that the people around them believe in. All regardless of reality and regardless of any facts.

Or more simply: People just follow a desperate need to be in with "The Group"? No thinking needed?


The examples (amongst others) given in that interview of a devout Flat-Earther and separately, that of a highly political Jim Bridenstine, are two very good examples.

Quite a different angle to that of cold reason and logic.


Hence, is this more of a game of understanding? (Understanding both emotionally as well as physically/theoretically?)

And then also we have the real-world dirty extreme greed at all costs pollution of the fossil fuels industry...

ps: I was dismayed and scathing of Trump making such a political move in appointing Bridenstine to head up NASA. Since then, I've been very impressed by how Bridenstine turned out to be a very good and beneficial choice for the entire world...

After this rant I just said "Oh", and watched as he stomped off to the nearest underground station (Bakers Street) - we had been stood outside the London Planetarium......

Noting the reducing levels of OXYGEN in our atmosphere is an interestingly stark example that doesn't seem to get much air-time in the news.

OK, so we will pollute ourselves to hell before asphyxiating, but it all still adds up to the same story of the extreme greed of the dirty fossil fuels industry polluting us all to hell.

That was very prosaic, but again it has absolutely nothing to do with being correct or having any actual evidence whatsoever.

Lots of people said and wrote plenty of prosaic things for thousands of years "proving" that the earth was the center of the universe, or that large objects fell faster than small ones, or that lead could be transformed into gold chemically. And all their prosaic words were worthless once the first person decided to actually collect some actual evidence one way or the other. We're in the same situation here.

It comes from a government that relies on what comes out of the ground to try and balance their books and coal plays a big part of that. Before COVID hit that same government bought many boxes full of thousands of coffee cups with "Back In Black" printed on them, but they never got their books back in the black so all those cups are gathering dust now (they were asking $25ea for cup that cost them less than $5ea and some reports suggest that they bought 30K of them, though the party is staying tight lipped on the real number).

Hopefully this incompetent government will be gone in the upcoming elections this time (or they'll get themselves another new leader for them, nah, they've done that 3 times now and I doubt that that trick will work for a 4th time). And the funniest part about it all is that they're now trying to use some of the opposition's policies on climate change that they blasted left, right & center during the last elections.

I've Worked at Coal Plants and Always Breathed Fine.

Wat is Nasty is an UNTuned Car goin' by with Open Windows and Foul Cig Smoke Bellowing Out.

A Double Whammy of Sickening Car Exhaust and Lung Exhaust.
