Hey, I've seen some of the fast food at Pompeii - both the c2000 years old old and the present day new...

The Romans were amazingly advanced, at least in some ways for their time...

Yeah all the way to their lead water pipes which made Roman Emperors go insane, unless one was from beyond Rome itself.

That one is an old myth unless you are trying to live in Flint, USA.

There was a problem of general water borne disease...

Naples is one prime ongoing example across the years that sadly actually continues through to the present day!...

Romans did use lead water pipes, this site says lead poisoning was at work in Rome.

When in ancient Rome, don’t drink as the Romans do. High-born Romans sipped beverages cooked in lead vessels and channeled spring water into their homes through lead pipes (pictured). Some historians argue that lead poisoning plagued the Roman elite with diseases such as gout and hastened the empire's fall. Now, a team of archaeologists and scientists has discovered just how contaminated Roman tap water was. The team dredged sediment downstream from Rome in the harbor basin at Portus, a maritime port of imperial Rome, and from a channel connecting the port to the Tiber River. The researchers compared the lead isotopes in their sediment samples with those found in preserved Roman piping to create a historical record of lead pollution flowing from the Roman capital. Tap water from ancient Rome likely contained up to 100 times more lead than local spring water,

Posting as I take a beer break after reducing half of my crepe myrtle tree by half back down to 2.5m height and it was getting so overly warm that I've changed into shorts and T-shirt.

The local primary school is also holding their sports carnival down on the oval today and it's nice to see that there are more students there now. There was 67 kids at that school while my kids were there, but in recent years there was lucky to be a dozen kids going there, though there's about 25 down there this year.

Cheers.

Wiggo I feel your pain. I just removed about a ton of weeds from the water behind my house. If left alone they block the docks and pose a hazard to any boats that are water-cooled. The weeds can block the water inlets.

I'm certainly going to feel it soon Carlos as I just got that tree finished (thankfully I only have to do that tree every 2yrs) just as my legs were starting to go rubbery from all the ladder work and now that I'm sitting down with a beer I'm sure that I'll start locking up shortly (then the fun will begin), but at least it turned from being sunny to overcast for the last half of it.

The temp here has reached an overcast 14C (feels like 11C) so that 15C forecast could be had today.

Also my Saturday broad leaf spraying looks to be a hit as well with clover, thistle and many other weeds now curled up in their death throws all over the place.

Cheers.

Soon a 33oz can of powdered eggs will be here, that and a spray on bandage.

And yes my left foot hurts just behind the toes, while the right is in no pain.
