No, that was an Intelligence Operation, We had copies of their code books and enigma machines and they didn't know that, there's a captured u-boat in Chicago, the U505 is an example, though its capture happened just before D-Day in 1944. Posting on 1 crappy day in the highlands down under. It's a windy and heavily overcast 16C (feels like 11C) early afternoon here, it probably wouldn't be so bad if it rained. Anyhow I'm staying indoors today so I'm just been working on the wiring to my latest project downstairs, but ATM I'm enjoying a short LLB. Cheers. |

+ Alan Turing, + Gordon Welchman, + some dogged anti-bureaucracy!... + some sloppy user procedures and + "The Most Boring Outpost in Africa"! Edit: Can't find the reference but our Allies were under strict instructions NOT to attack or disturb a certain one German outpost so that we could guarantee that they predictably reported the exact same report every day ('No activity'). Edit #2: Was there not a similar trick used just before the Pear Harbour attack where a false report of equipment failure was reported by the American base there which was then picked up to confirm that the Japanese spy codes had been successfully intercepted by the Americans from the Japanese having intercepted the American transmission? Almost the same overcast crap here again today, excepted the wind isn't blowing as hard and rain is on the forecast. Cheers. |

I was going to do some pruning out front this morning, but at a heavily overcast 16C along with an easterly wind making it feel like 13C and showers starting to creep down over the border is not enticing me to go out there. Cheers. |
