Going by a physical network cable will always beat anything wireless. Especially so using cat6 cables or even fibre. Cat5e works for Gigabits so long as the cable isn't too long and no nasty 90deg sharp bends or kinks. https://www.bodie.com/stories/electrification-of-the-standard-mill/ The Mill had new electrical equipment installed, a power substation was built, and lines were run from the Mill to the substation, and from the substation to Green Creek, where the Hydroelectric Power Plant was built. In fact, the lines were run 13 miles in a straight line! At the time, it’s believed that engineers weren’t sure if the power would ‘jump out of the line and into the ground’ on sharp corners – on the other hand, it’s costs less to run a straight line, rather than adding footage for turning corners… |

Good one! And hey!! Radio waves and lightning do jump off the wires rather than go around corners... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Good one! Radio waves are photons not electrons and lightning is a breakdown of insulation. A kink can break conductors or strands, alter impedance and resistance, change number of twists per inch, induce cross talk but I've yet to see the electrons still go straight and come out the side of the wire. Remember they are moving fast, relativistic fast. How many electrons leaving the wire does it take to alter it's chemical stability? Or are they replaced? If so what is this source of the replacement electrons? |

A bend/kink in an electrical conductor increases the inductance in that region. That then increases the impedance for any high frequency ac or pulses and so causes a transmisson mismatch at that point. The energy in any high frequency signal or pulse ain't all going to make it around the corner!... Hence for example, lightning conductors should be kept as straight as possible for leading to ground. After another half an hour on the line trimmer and 2 hours pushing the mower around (before running out of fuel) I reckon that it's now time for a few beers. Cheers. |

A bend/kink in an electrical conductor increases the inductance in that region. That then increases the impedance for any high frequency ac or pulses and so causes a transmisson mismatch at that point. The energy makes it way around this corner just fine. Are you saying the electrons poured into one end of the wire don't come out? How long before the wire explodes? |
