You have to be in it to win it. ;-) Well that rain here has turned into a thunderstorm so I'm holding off on bottling my beer brew just in case the power goes out. Cheers. |

Dark and 48F outside, it's cool enough inside to warrant my inhalers use, the thermostat is set for 77F and the gas furnace is on now. I'm waiting for pain pills to kick in between 4.30am and 5.00am and I'd taken them at 4.00am. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Posting after getting half the back laneway back where it belongs after the last 2 days of storms here. Getting 100mm (almost 4") dumped on us within 48hrs is extreme for this region. Now it's time for a few beers. Cheers. |

Posting after about Just had TOO MUCH trouble with U-300 TV Package from U-Verse. They kept claiming that our problems related to "...a 90 Degree splitter 'SOMEWHERE' in the walls." Due to this 'thing', we kept having pixelations, screen freezes, DVR dropouts on the remote STBs, and more. This is ALL due to the fact that the original date of manufacture on the house was in the late 70's, and dad's remodel was in the late 90's. Dad DID NOT install Ethernet in ANY of the rooms. All we had was phone line and Coax. So, we ended up, originally, on Coax on ALL STBs AND the DVR. Over time, and one by one, we replaced the Coax STBs with Wireless boxes. Unfortunately, U-Verse is LIMITED to just 2 Wireless STBs on an account. So we had to first move the DVR to the Gateway/Modem location and connect the DVR to the Gateway by Ethernet. The Master Bedroom then got one Wireless STB. The second Wireless STB went to the Family Room. My Bedroom got the ONLY wired STB, (via Coax), 'backfed' by the Gateway. We were finally told that "...once U-Verse can get Fiber to the Home, you can then upgrade to 4 Wireless STBs." However; no known date is available as to when AT&T Fiber will be in our area. We had one final issue about three weeks ago. The Wireless STB in the Master Bedroom completely DIED! Level One Support, (Philippines), REFUSED to send us a Service Technician to replace the dead box, AND they insisted they COULD NOT overnight a replacement. The soonest that U-Verse Level One Support could get us a replacement was the 23rd of Feb. I went to work to investigate TOTALLY replacing U-Verse TV Service. I HATED the thought that we MIGHT have to go back to Comcast... Comcast's Internet Service here is atrocious. I finally found that DISH had EVERY channel in our U-300 Lineup, except for OAN Network on their 'America's Top 250' Package. Actually COULD have had DISH Network installed on the 19th, (if had ordered on the 18th), BUT dad is old fashioned in making decisions, and DOES NOT immediately order ANYTHING on the first call or first look. So we waited until Tuesday, February 23rd and placed our order. DISH Installer came out on the 24th and got everything Installed in about three hours. Two of which were getting the parabolic HD Dish attached to the roof line at the back of the garage. Cabling went into the attic above the garage. One Coax cable was then fished into my attic office, (above the garage), and the Hopper3 DVR was installed right next to the U-Verse Gateway to replace the AT&T DVR. I insisted on 4 Wireless STBs to be installed at the other various locations in the house. One Wireless Box in the Spare Bedroom outside the Office, one Wireless Box in my Bedroom, one Wireless Box in the Master Bedroom, and the last Wireless Box downstairs in the Family Room. This required TWO Wireless Access Point WiFi Transceivers as a MAXIMUM of three Wireless STBs can be attached to a WAP. Found that signal was weakest in the Master Bedroom. Had to invest in a Linksys Velop MESH Network WiFi System. One Master Node connected at the U-Verse Internet Gateway, one Node in the Master Bedroom, an the last Node at the Family Room location. The Hopper3 was then attached by WiFi to the Velop Master Node, and one WAP was attached to the Hopper3. The second WAP was attached to a Slave Node in the Master Bedroom. This got us STRONG WAP WiFi Signal across the entire house. Another benefit of the Linksys Velop WiFi Mesh Network was that ALL our computers and Cell Phones, Smart TVs and two Blu-Ray Players could ALL be attached by WiFi to the MESH Network System at 5GHz Band, (as long as each unit could access 5GHz), all components NOT 5Ghz capable connect at 2.4GHz to the MESH Network. FINALLY our home is in the 21st Century! NO MORE TV connectivity issues!!!!! Sorry for the long post, but wanted to make everything clear. We'd been on U-300 TV Service since rollout of U-Verse in our area 11+ years ago. While their Internet is bulletproof, their U-300 TV Service is LACKING, UNLESS you can have Ethernet in EVERY room of your home. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9!
