Senior engineer reported to management for failing to fix a stapler
The seasons turn, the tides ebb and flow. Just as regularly, each Friday The Register delvers another instalment of On-Call, our reader-contributed tale of another sad constant: IT people being asked to do amazingly dumb things.

Have you ever been asked to fix something that was not even on your job responsibilities list?

One of the quasi-governmental organizations I did IT support for instituted a policy whereby anyone could escalate any IT ticket up to "severity one" highest priority, which automatically triggered a broadcast to IT and a conference of the incident co-ordinators, among other things.

Predictably, this policy lasted approximately one week before it was cancelled, because a mid-level exec. invoked the a severity one IT incident process as he didn't think that the plant in his new office matched the other décor.

'World's dirtiest man' dies shortly after bathing for first time in decades
"Uncle Haji" avoided eating fresh food and smoked animal excrement, according to local residents.

"Uncle Haji," known by international media as the "world's dirtiest man" due to the fact he didn't bath for over 60 years, has died at the age of 94, falling ill shortly after his first bath, Iranian media reported on Tuesday.

The number of people at work that have difficulty with this concept is rather concerning (although many of them don't comment until there is nothing left at all, let alone almost nothing- and that's for pens, rubber bands, clips pretty, much everything).
Why let those that can do something about it know, when you can complain about how we keep running out of things...?

Sometimes a news story is just so far out that, well, judge for yourselves:

One can think of other reasons why police contraband stores might suffer 'stock shrinkage'. It's happened in the UK.

The humans 'rats' in India must have a taste for contraband... from the article:
In 2017, police in the eastern Indian state of Bihar had blamed rats for consuming thousands of litres of confiscated alcohol, a year after the state banned the sale and consumption of alcohol.
