A meteor has caused what's been described as a sonic boom that rattled houses across Victoria on Sunday night.

Social media was flooded with reports of sightings from Victoria's east through to Melbourne, Ballarat and Bendigo just after 7:30pm.

Some residents also reported hearing an explosion — described by some as a "sonic boom" — with one observer in the Bendigo suburb of Strathfieldsaye saying she called her neighbour thinking their house had exploded.

Others reported what felt and sounded like an earthquake.....

On this day in 1984, IBM released PC-DOS v3.0 for PC/AT. Remember those days?

A 286 processor, 20-30meg hard drive and 256k/512k RAM for somewhere between $6,000 and $9,000. Ah yes, the good ol’ days. ;-)

I remember the AT running at 12 megahertz with 1 megabyte of memory, math coprocessor, 40 meg hard drive, AMD EGA 16 bit graphic card (800X600) and a 3 button laser mouse.

With a little bit of extra hardware you could run CAD programs I liked using AutoCad on a XT.

Well, I made a low-ball offer on a house in Guanajuato, Mexico, and it was accepted today. I was looking for something to buy as a project home. This checked all of the boxes. This is probably the best picture I have. For this city, it's a large parcel. There is a three-car parking deck at street level. Parking in this city is rare. The first deck down is a 1-bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms. Below that is a standalone bedroom, and a level below that is a standalone bathroom. Below that is a garden. The house was never finished. The one-bedroom apartment is complete, but the house was designed to be a 4-bedroom, 5-bath house on 4 levels. Only the first level was completed, but foundations for all of it were installed. I'm getting it for about $100k US, which is about $2 million Mexican. It's in a neighborhood with homes selling for $4-700K US once upgraded and completed. I got a project at a great price. So I am moving to Mexico!

This is from the lower yard looking up at the 2 bedrooms and one of the baths on the main floor.

That looks to be a fun house to have as project to finish - enjoy both the house and the work.

You asked for it. Will have to make 4 posts. Tried in 1 and it didn't work.

Explanation Photo. I am posting this that will help you understand the rest.

Level 1 : This shows the view from the street-level parking deck, the great room, and the guest bath. The trees blocking the view are all on my parcel, so I will be doing some trimming. I have 3 enclosed parking spaces above the great room. I plan to add floor area to the great room and create a proper kitchen. Will add skylights to the living room area. The back wall is cut into the mountainside, so no windows.

Bedrooms: This image shows the two bedrooms and the master bath. There is one bedroom on level 1 and one on level 2. Both are identical in size, 3.8 m square. The one on level 1 had a bathroom cantelived off of it. I could not get a good image of the bath. It was too small to get my phone to show more. The lower level does not. It's accessed by an open deck, which was planned to be the floor of the next level. The last photo from outside is the first one I posted here, with some additional arrows and comments.

Last post: This is the expansion area and yard. The plot is 10 meters wide by 38.8 meters long from the street down to the adjoining property. The stone wall in the first image is the foundation wall for future expansion. Below here not shown is a full stand-alone bathroom with a shower. I guess it was for people working in the garden? The climb up to level 1 where the existing bathrooms are located, is significant if you gotta go.

Nice/great looking pad, and as for the outside bathroom - one for exhibitionist maybe?

1. Stand standalone bathroom has doors. Besides the walls around it block any view into the garden area or bathroom.
2. The main floor is liveable now. The seller wanted me to take immediate possession, but I am not sure I want to jump that far until after I have the full inspection completed. That should be 30 days. But I need to go back to the US to get some immigration stuff completed there. I am getting Mexican citizenship, but I need to file the application at a Mexican embassy in the US.
3. I plan to hire help. My expectation is 6 to 9 months of work. But this is Mexico, the land of "mañana".
