Not the first image you would think of for a college lecturer

It seems that yesterday wasn't a good day for flights in and out of Sydney.

Almost two dozen flights in and out of Australia’s busiest airport have been cancelled on Christmas Day following wild storms.

I wonder how many people wound up with soggy luggage.

Cheers.

Bankruptcy Watch: Struggling retailer’s CEO blames lazy workers
A good CEO walks a fine line. They want to make it clear that employees need to work hard, but they also need to create an environment that rewards working smart, not simply toiling away on projects that don't change the bottom line.

Wayfair CEO Niraj Shah badly misstepped in a recent email to employees that celebrated the company's return to profitability (despite it losing money during the quarter) while also essentially telling workers they should all work late.

"Working long hours, being responsive, blending work and life, is not anything to shy away from. There is not a lot of history of laziness being rewarded with success,” he wrote in the now-famous email.

Nobody argues that workers shouldn't do their jobs well and that doing that, at least when you reach a certain level in a company, sometimes requires working outside of normal hours

... Wayfair's problems, however, are not rooted in its employees not working hard enough.

"In the nine months of the fiscal year to-date, Wayfair has made a net loss of over half a billion dollars. Its business model remains fundamentally broken. Before preaching to employees about hard work, I suggest Wayfair management get their own house in order," GlobalData Retail Managing Director Neil Saunders wrote on RetailWire.

You really have to wonder about some of our cousins across the gutter. :-O

Friends celebrate Christmas at a roundabout in New Zealand tradition.

Surely there are safer places to be?

With a public holiday on Monday, this is what's been going on for the last few days around here (it was even worse the week before last with this Monday & Tuesday being public holidays).

That number is not lost on me and several others I hope. For the new people just turn it upside down and try to figure it out. :-}

You never know what you will find behind walls, etc when home renovation begins!
Homeowner renovating White Settlement (Texas) house finds hand grenade inside kitchen drawer
The new owner of a house under renovation in the 9200 block of Lanham Street in White Settlement found a hand grenade inside a kitchen drawer, police said Sunday.

The device was described as an older, military-style grenade. It did not contain explosive material, the Fort Worth Fire Department Arson/Bomb Squad determined.

White Settlement police have no leads on how the grenade got into the house, which had been vacant for a few years.

Police closed the immediate area while Fort Worth firefighters assessed the grenade
