Message 2125385 - Posted: 12 Sep 2023, 14:05:50 UTC

A Catholic Priest and a Rabbi were chatting one day when the conversation turned to a discussion of job descriptions and promotion.

"What do you have to look forward to in way of a promotion in your job?" asked the Rabbi.

"Well, I'm next in line for the Monsignor's job." replied the Priest.

"Yes, and then what?" asked the Rabbi.

"Well, next I can become Bishop." said the Priest.

"Yes, and then?" asked the Rabbi.

"If I work real hard and do a good job as Bishop, it's possible for me to become an Archbishop." said the Priest.

"O.K., then what?" asked the Rabbi.

The Priest, beginning to get a bit exasperated replied, "With some luck and real hard work, maybe I can become a Cardinal."

"And then?" asked the Rabbi.

The Priest is really starting to get mad now and replies, "With lots and lots of luck and some real difficult work and if I'm in the right places at the right times and play my political games just right, maybe, just maybe, I can get elected Pope."

"Yes, and then what?" asked the Rabbi.

"Good grief!" shouted the Priest. "What do you expect me to become, GOD?"

"Well," said the Rabbi, "One of our boys made it!"

And now Libya (or what's left of it), gets the snot knocked out of it by Storm Daniel.
Thousands feared dead, entire neighbourhoods 'swept away by water' as storm floods Libya
It's even worse than it first appeared.
Libya floods wipe out quarter of the city of Derna, officials estimate a death toll more than 5,000
Thousands of people have been killed and at least 10,000 are missing in Libya after floods caused by a storm that burst dams, swept away buildings and wiped out as much as a quarter of the eastern coastal city of Derna.
A senior medic in Derna told Reuters that more than 2,000 people were dead, while eastern Libya officials cited by local television were estimating a toll of more than 5,000.

Feel a need for speed? How about 0-100km/h (62.5mph) in under 1 second?
University students built an electric car that can go from 0-100 km/h in under a second

Does a human body need to take that many G’s repeatedly?

This is what my old '87 was like when ready for a ride day at Eastern Creek Raceway (I hope that he just washed that and it just water dripping below).

With a bit of engine and exhaust tinkering the black biatch put out 148bhp at the back wheel on the dyno and could pull low to mid 9's down the standing quarter, though back tyres didn't last very long. Below 6500rpm and it was a quiet bike, but once you went past that all hell broke loose big time. :-D

Cheers.

I really like my CBR-1100XX Super Blackbird (original '86 carby model), unfortunately there's not that many places up here that are good for an extended ride (especially since they brought in speed limits on the open road). Between here & Alice Springs there's not many corners that have to be taken at less than 200km/h, less than half a dozen that can't be done at 140-150km/h.
And there's the wildlife that tends to make things more interesting than they need to be.

Understand the wildlife. I also had to hose off the poo after the encounter.

I almost forgot that I rode a motorcycle too. I bought one of these in 1973 and finally sold it around 2012. I would ride it around job sites on occasion but it did not get much use after the 80's.

My 1st road legal 2 wheeler and it wasn't stock either. In fact I got both my riders and car license on my 17th birthday (they were 2 separate paper licenses back then).

Cheers.

It's been a long time since I laughed as hard as I did at the fried alien... Great.

The pack of alien eggs is of course from “Weyland-Yutani Corp” including the company logo.

US Asks for Help Finding Missing F-35 Fighter Jet After Crash.

The United States’ military is on the hunt for an F-35 fighter jet that has gone missing following an incident that forced the pilot to eject from the advanced stealth aircraft over South Carolina.

Emergency response teams are trying to find what’s left of the F-35B Lightning II jet, which suffered what the military called a “mishap” on Sunday afternoon, according to social media posts by Joint Base Charleston, an air base in South Carolina. The unidentified pilot ejected safely and was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition.....
