Now this model of truck brings back memories from the 60's & 70's, not all of them good either and those were just table top farm jobs.

Vintage fire truck with Indigenous history found by chance and returned to Bellbrook for restoration.

I wonder if my young brother will get in on that as he's a member at a neighbouring station close by.

Cheers.

They tried to break a record, but fell short.

After a two-month flight, the Army’s Zephyr drone fell from the sky.

...All told, the aircraft, which is designed to soar at altitudes north of 60,000 feet, remained airborne for 64 days. Previously, the drone had completed other very long duration flights, such as one in 2018 that lasted almost 26 days, and two flights last year of about 18 days. As for the ultra-long journey that just suddenly ended, the Army says that it’s the longest flight on the books for an uncrewed aircraft, noting that it “beat all known unmanned aircraft endurance records.” However, as Simple Flying notes, a bizarre flight involving two pilots in a Cessna that took place between 1958 and 1959 lasted for nearly 65 days, so the record the Army is boasting about is for uncrewed aircraft....

Well this is something that's pretty rare here down under.

Water-bombers sent to out-of-control fire near Gulgong, as wet ground hampers RFS efforts.

Boggy, wet conditions have stopped firefighters from accessing an out-of-control fire that was threatening homes in regional New South Wales, with three water-bombing helicopters called in.

The grassfire broke out on Friday on Beryl Road, just outside of Gulgong in the state's central west.

The Rural Fire Service (RFS) issued a watch-and-act alert just after 1pm, which was downgraded to advice level an hour later

The fire remained out of control until around 4pm due to wet conditions....
Even though our grass has been well freeze dried this winter it will still be very interesting to know how that got started, though grass fires will be a problem this summer way out west though it's unlikely any bushfires will be seen in the eastern states due to the wet conditions.

Cheers.

Purple haze.

A mysterious purple cloud was spotted hovering over a town in Chile leaving residents baffled.

...Officials launched an investigation into the purple haze after receiving numerous reports from concerned locals.

The fluorescent display is suspected to be the result of iodine vapour seeping from the Cala Cala mine.

The site, owned by the Cosayach Saltpeter and Iodine Company, is said to have suffered a pump failure, prompting the purple cloud....

Droughts around the world are turning up some interesting things.

Several parts of the world are in drought — revealing hidden treasures in dried-up riverbeds.

But what if part of the cipher is the depth of the imprint? I created a code once that included line weight as a clue to letter order. At Renaissance fairs, I would hide a treasure and sell coded maps. It was for faire workers, not the public. Treasures were all found. I will keep looking. Thanks for the link.
