Star Wars: Millennium Falcon Pembrokeshire exhibition to open
It is the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy and capable of completing the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
What is less well known about the Millennium Falcon is it truly was the last ship to be built at the Royal Pembroke Dockyard.
Now an exhibition will tell the story of how Han Solo's beloved spaceship was built in an aircraft hangar in the Pembrokeshire town in spring 1979.
It will tell the story with photographs, film, models and costumes.

3-year-old’s call to 911 ends with a Happy Meal delivered by police, Kansas cops say
“She did not dial 9-1-1 for food. She triple clicked my home button and it dialed dispatch on its own,” she wrote. “She heard a friendly voice answer, and asked for McDonald’s because she plays restaurant often.

With things the way that they are these days farmers need your help, which in turn helps you, so send them as much as you can (you can even use it yourself). :-D

The Solution To The Fertilizer Shortage May Be More Accessible Than You'd Think.

The UK has been using this technology for years, decades, possibly centuries. Visit any traditional farming area here, and you'll find tractors towing tank trailers from farm to field, or field to field. They have spreader nozzles at the rear, and spray the sludge over everything nearby. We seem to survived on it so far...

So has the United States. We have a common brand of bagged fertilizer named Bandini. The name is also used for the statement "You are in deep Bandini..."

Wow! :-O

The Oldest Tree in the World Might Have Been Found in Chile, and It's Dying.

In Chile's Alerce Costero National Park, there is a very big, very old tree. Alerce trees don't live fast and die young. They grow extremely slowly and live for a long, long time. As first reported in Science, Jonathan Barichivich says that the Alerce Milenario is the oldest tree of all: likely at least 5,000 years old, just after we entered the Bronze Age. That's a lot older than the previous record holder, an eastern Californian bristlecone pine thought to be 4,853 years old....
It's just a shame that it's dying, but then again "nothing lasts forever".

Cheers.

Hidden in a water drainage system. You won’t see or hear them before it’s to late.

I've sort of been tossing up where to put, but let's forget about the military uses and I'll stick it here as there are more non-military uses for this.

It seems that DARPA wants to develop their own Caspian Sea Monster, but this 1 will actually be able to fly.

Mad Scientists at DARPA Are Moving Forward With a ‘Flying Sea Monster’ Craft.

Last week, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced a new project, one that should be familiar to aircraft—and ship—geeks. The Liberty Lifter seaplane transport will harness the “wing-in-ground effect” (WIG) that Soviet-era aircraft, including the infamous “Caspian Sea Monster,” utilized to carry cargo thousands of miles, across distances such as the Indian and Pacific oceans. Although the technology has been tried and abandoned, DARPA seems to think it deserves a second look.

Liberty Lifter “will combine fast and flexible strategic lift of very large, heavy loads with the ability to take off/land in water,” DARPA says in a May 18 press release. “Its structure will enable both highly controlled flight close to turbulent water surfaces and sustained flight at mid-altitudes,” the statement continues. The agency points out that traditional sealift using cargo ships is very efficient, but slow and reliant on the use of ports. Airlift is fast, but relies on airfields that in wartime would need to be captured first....
In use as the bigger brother of the G-111T they could prove to be very beneficial to many island communities around the world.

Cheers.

It looks like the U.S. Forest Service is like our National Parks and Wildlife Service (which is more commonly know around here as National Sparks and Wildfire Setters).

Forest Service finds it was responsible for largest fire in New Mexico history.

The Forest Service says it was responsible for both the blazes that merged late last month and created the largest fire in New Mexico history.

The agency said Friday that its fire investigators determined the Calf Canyon Fire was started by a holdover fire, or sleeper fire, from a federal pile burn that concluded Jan. 29.

Though crews monitored the fire for a couple days following the conclusion of the burn, the Forest Service said, it remained dormant and survived three winter snow events before it reignited and escaped containment lines in April and was “significantly” spread by a wind event.

The Calf Canyon Fire then merged with the Hermits Peak Fire, which was also started by an escaped federal prescribed burn, to cause New Mexico’s biggest-ever fire.
“The pain and suffering of New Mexicans caused by the actions of the U.S. Forest Service – an agency that is intended to be a steward of our lands – is unfathomable,” New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) said in a statement....
