Up, Up And They Pay: $2.6M Winning Bid For Superman #1 Comic
The seller, Mark Michaelson, bought the comic in 1979 from its original owner and kept it in a temperature-controlled safe. Michaelson, now semi-retired and living in Houston, paid his way through college by buying and selling comics.

Nice, but I have a picture on my PC of two real heros from 1943, I'm working on finding 1944, but so far it's elusive...

Dad & Mom, 1943, US Army.

My uncle also 1943, USAAF.

Police say 63-year-old man stole entire bridge
"Detectives discovered that Bramley, who formally worked in the Akron area, paid a local trucking company for a crane service. The crane was later used to place the bridge on and off a vehicle that transported it to the Medina County property," said the Akron Police Department in a press statement
The bridge in question was 58 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 6 feet high.

Well, it's not like they were using it.

It's all in 1's perspective.

Is Mount Everest really the tallest mountain on Earth?

It's no secret that Mount Everest, the jewel in Nepal's Himalayan crown, is the world's premier mountain. It's one of those facts embedded in childhood, like knowing that Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon or that blue whales are the largest animals ever to have lived.

You may be surprised to hear, then, that other peaks could conceivably be considered Earth's tallest; it just depends how you measure them.....
Cheers.

Yeah like Mauna Kea in Hawaii...

Mount Everest is the tallest mountain above sea level, but if we're talking sheer height here, base to summit, then the tallest mountain is Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii.

Here's how it breaks down:

Everest stands 29,035 feet above sea level. Mauna Kea only stands 13,796 feet above seal level, but the mountain extends about 19,700 feet below the Pacific Ocean. Over half of it is submerged.

That puts the total height of Mauna Kea at about 33,500 feet — nearly a mile taller than Everest.

Take that Everest...

Finnish Man Blows Up His Tesla to Protest $22,600 Repair Cost
Katainen is a 2013 Tesla Model S owner who was told he would have to pay more than $22,600 to replace the battery on his car. For him, it apparently wasn’t worth it, ...

To put this in perspective, $22,600 would go a long way to buying another used 2013 Model S in Finland, which appear to sell for more than $42,900. But Katainen decides that’s not for him, proving that there is indeed a thin line between logic, rage, and insanity.

EDIT TO ADD YouTube video link of the event!

Today is $13 Dollar Bill Day

In 1984, Christopher Ship of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was arrested when he tried to spend a $13 bill he had made. I guess he was trying to account for inflation. ;-)
