2 opposing views.
1
The head of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee has not ruled out a cancellation of the Olympic Games.
Toshiro Muto said he would keep an eye on infection numbers and hold "discussions" if necessary.
2
His comments came on the same day International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said cancellation was "never an option".
So much for common sense.

A confirmed case for why I believe the term "anti-vaxxers" is too much of a rabid generalisation.
Critics say flawed publicity about the AstraZeneca vaccine's rare clotting risk has made many Australians reluctant to take it.
Australia only has limited supplies of its other authorised vaccine, from Pfizer.
Anger as half of Australians in lockdown again
Did think that only 230,000 out of 26,000,000 vaccinated was appalling, until I read the quoted section.

... CHOOSE for Yourselves. DON'T ALLOW OTHERs to CHOOSE for You. ...

... a Different Reality. ...

Is there also a 'game' of playing being 'contrary'?

Or simply being 'anti' of anything seen as being 'authority'?

That is indeed very much all your choice.

Yes, twice. 1st time around the time of my post, got a white screen with a large blue box stating, browser not supported.
Didn't have time to try again until now.
I've always believed, especially in modern times, that playing the percentage game is a fools paradise.

... I've always believed, especially in modern times, that playing the percentage game is a fools paradise.

Very much so.

A deadly example doing the rounds at the moment is the statement that "more people are being hospitalized who are vaccinated than those not vaccinated".

Which here for the UK now, is actually true.

That then sounds really bad against getting vaccinated...

Except that... This time round for the 'surge'/'wave' of infections, we now have more people vaccinated than are not vaccinated, with the consequence that ofcourse more of the people that need to go to hospital will have been vaccinated! Duh!!

The big difference for this latest wave of covid infections is that, because more people are now vaccinated, those unfortunate enough to still need to go to hospital now get better quicker, and far far fewer people are dying.

+1
The problem also is the showing of genuine concerns 9/10 gets one labelled "anti-vaxxer"
Pretty certain on this thread earlier this year, I voiced them, not because of any "misinformation" but a genuine concern over AZ.
At that time AZ was the only one on offer rather than others being available.
My concern was over the blood clotting issue.
Among all the misinformation heard & seen was a particular comment/statement on blood clots.
Unable to get though to my GP, called the NHS Direct line. The person spoken to was aware but unsure about the actual issues so took my number with the promise that I would be called back with the relevant information.
That was done & PDQ, got asked a specific question to which the reply was no, so then informed it would be safe to have the vaccine. Job done.
Had the answer been yes, then I would not have been allowed the AZ jab, neither will any one on blood thinning medication.
I stopped taking mine 3.5 years ago as it was creating some scary incidents with one that really made me fearful.
I had knocked the small toe on my right foot & did not feel it. Didn't bruise it but cut it slightly.
Going to the kitchen to make a cuppa the missus spotted a trail of blood.
Tracking it back, just under the computer chair was a pool of blood & near enough a pint of the stuff.
So folks before calling people anti-vaxxers, make sure they are just that, otherwise just like these vaccine passports supposing to be compulsory at the end of September - A discriminating act & blatantly at that.
BTW, had any of the other vaccines been available at that time, my concerns would not have existed.

My apologies, made a mistake in my last post. It should state 4.5 years. Time sure passes while having fun.
Now I don't often take much serious notice of social media, but there are 2 statements circulating where I find that 1 is "iffy" while the 2nd is funny.
1: Funny that "Freedom Day" was declared 3 days before their summer recess.
2: David Attenborough on one of his recent nature trips was amazed.
He heard a squirrel talk to his scurry...
"The crazier the world gets,
the easier it is in finding nuts".

Think that squirrel needs his covid jab. :-)

“One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late.

My security blocked your link, but I found this https://foxbaltimore.com/news/coronavirus/alabama-doctor-tells-unvaccinated-covid-patients-begging-for-vaccine-its-too-late
And in it Dr. Cobia references made by fellow physician Dr. David B. Wilhelm, who works at Birmingham's Greystone Internal Medicine.
The transcript of Dr. Wilhelm states;
Delta variant Covid is now present in all 50 states, and Covid hospital admissions are up nationwide about 40%. Delta is more contagious and is attacking more aggressively in younger age groups compared to previous Covid strains.

I will repeat my statement from last week: If you haven't had Covid and are unvaccinated, there is a significant likelihood you'll get Delta variant Covid in the next 60-90 days.

If that offends any of you then so be it. There is no more time to sugar coat [sic] this.

Vaccines are readily available and are your best tool to fight this infection. Almost 99% of all Covid deaths are now in those who are not vaccinated.

Don't wait until it is too late.

Of course they are down, 57% of the U.S. population over 12 have been fully vaccinated, or 49% of the total population if that's the way you like the numbers.

But just watch them go back up due to the Delta variant which is more deadly amongst all those that choose not to be vaccinated.

I think that Dull maybe being mislead by those false documents that Breitbart, OANN, some at Faux and a few other far right nutters are kicking around ATM. That's so sad if true as we just had 2 well known far right covidiots here trying to push that B.S. publicly on a talk back radio show/podcast hosted by 1 of them, they got shot down in so many flames straight away in question time by the real facts you could actually see both turn so red with embarrassment (that episode so much of embarrassment for them that it was quickly removed from view).

Meanwhile Singapore's plans to live with COVID-19 have been derailed by Delta.

Singapore reintroduces Covid-19 restrictions days after relaxing rules.

Another thing to watch is the religious festival currently taking place in many countries that are celebrating it and have lifted Covid restrictions for it go ahead (some are not even reporting their numbers because of it ATM), but seeing the crowds in some of these countries celebrating in so many totally covidiot ways (most especially in an exploding Bangladesh who just engaged a softdown only to suspend it for this festival), I suspect that things are only going to get much worse. :-(

The effects of France's Bastille Day are starting to show up now as cases explode there and goodness knows what the U.K.'s Freedom Day will produce as yet (even though their run at the top of the new daily case list has just been broken by Brazil).

Anyhow it's almost time for our state numbers to start being released, we'll see if that cheeky little Malta can keep increasing its lead on us today as the numbers here are not expected to be good again.

Report: "Kids and skinny people are dying from COVID."
MTG: "You guys are cracking me up! Look, people are responsible for their own health."
Yeah, MGT, 5 year olds are responsible for their own health. That's what family values now means, eh?
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

And the U.S. has overtaken both with a daily score of 56,525

Yes they did and that was without any numbers coming in from Michigan.
