It's not all roses and lovely here in the UK...

Yes, brilliant success so far for getting vaccination going.

However...

We're also squandering an eye watering vast £36,000 MILLION on an ever more wasteful 'test and trace' game.

How many more lives could be saved or improved with those funds instead?

And France joined the 4,000,000 cases club.
Yes they did and now the world's total has passed 120 million while the U.S. has passed 30 million.

The slump in the CDU vote comes amid anger in Germany at the slow pace of the coronavirus vaccine rollout and a mask procurement scandal.
Several conservative lawmakers have quit over allegations they received huge commissions for arranging government deals to buy face masks.

This problem of Blood Clots (venous thromboembolism (VTE))
VTE can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race or ethnicity

Did you know…

In the UK and worldwide, VTE is a leading cause of death and disability
Up to 20% of cancer patients develop blood clots
Globally up to 60% of blood clots occur within 90 days of hospital discharge
More people die from blood clots each year than the total number of people who lose their lives annually due to AIDS, breast cancer, and motor vehicle crashes combined.

From https://thrombosisuk.org/thrombosis-statistics.php

Looks to me, that politicians are making mountains out of mole hills and coming up with the wrong decisions.

Aussie doses sent to PNG as country battles COVID-19 crisis.

PNG's border is just 4km from ours.

[edit] Meanwhile the push is on to extend our quarantine period for returning travelers from 14 to 21 days.

By the end of the last reporting period (though not complete) saw the world's total case tally pass 121.2 million while deaths have now passed 2,650,000. :-(

In the top 30 of the death list saw Hungary remove Portugal from 25th place and Belgium replace Canada in 21st.

On the case list Cuba leapt over Singapore and El Salvador to land in 98th place, Norway claimed 93rd from Uzbekistan while Estonia flew over Montenegro, Zambia and Kyrgyzstan to take over 89th, Ghana nudged Kyrgyzstan aside for 88th, as Libya shoved Venezuela out of 75th, Slovenia became the 65th country to pass 200,000 infections and Moldova took 63rd spot from Lithuania.

Palestine put in a long jump into 60th place passing Kuwait and Costa Rica, Greece booted Denmark from 58th as Georgia bumped Nepal out of 49th, Ecuador became the 47th country to pass 300,000 cases while Jordan and Austria passed Morocco to take up 36th and 37th respectively and Hungary chewed up Serbia and spat them out of 34th along with being the 35th country to pass 500,000 infections.

Belgium became the 27th country to pass 800,000 cases and Chile became the 23rd to pass 900,000.

Meanwhile here down under the state of Queensland is in a hurry to get everyone on the islands between Cape York and PNG vaccinated as locals up there regularly island hop between the 2 countries by boat.

He didn't just drop the ball.
He completely failed to catch it.

So badly the 3rd umpire wasn't even consulted.

There's a strong suggestion of political total disbelief that a pandemic was happening until the scientists finally lost their patience and smacked the politicians with stark clear numbers that our NHS was soon to be overwhelmed with patients soon to die in the corridors.

Only then did economy disrupting action to save lives slowly begin... Too slowly.

We had over two weeks stark advance warning from watching the deadly disaster in Italy. Just a short air flight away...

Politicians can watch a river flood and get washed away just the same...

How do we do better?

Ensure that anyone wanting to be a politician has held a proper job for 10 years and is a proven leader, not a manager.

Q: What's the difference between politicians & the electorate?
A: The electorate can read, write & hear.

Thankfully, but very almost nearly too late nearly not, the UK avoided this:

Brazil health service in 'worst crisis in its history'
wrote:
Brazil is experiencing a historic collapse of its health service as intensive care units in hospitals run out of capacity...

... The warning came as the country registered its highest daily death toll yet with 2,841 dying within 24 hours...

... President Bolsonaro has consistently opposed quarantine measures introduced by state governors, arguing that the collateral damage to the economy would be worse than the effects of the virus itself...

... And yet they are suffering more people dying than during a war!

All at what cost and at what profit benefiting what few corruptly rich?

Euthanasia is illegal, yet if you're a doctor, no problem.
So much for the Hippocratic oath.
It is also calling for a review so that any "hasty, ill-informed decisions" could be removed from older people's records.
Despicable
