Well the latest COVID-19 outbreak at the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel at Melbourne Airport has been found to be caused by the use of a nebuliser by an infected person/s.

There are now 8 cases being linked to the use of this device and now the luggage of those going into quarantine will be searched and such devices removed if found.

At long long last, the UK gets serious about international travelers?

Covid-19: 10-year jail term for travel lies defended

The UK hotel quarantining had better include good comfort for that non-negotiable pricing...

Then again, all a game of business expenses?

Political/diplomatic travel included without exception??

To undo all the conspiracists:

Coronavirus: Bat scientists find new evidence
wrote:
... discovered a virus that is a close match to the virus that causes Covid-19 in bats at a wildlife sanctuary in eastern Thailand. And they predict that similar coronaviruses may be present in bats across many Asian nations and regions.

The discovery extends the area in which related viruses have been found to a distance of 4,800km (2,983 miles).

... The area includes Japan, China and Thailand...

All we need to do is to clean up the 'bushmeat' markets?...

At the moment it is stated that the vaccines are produced as a non-profit venture, but for how long?

The last reporting period saw the world's case total pass 108.2 million while deaths passed 2,377,000. :-(

Now for a case list update, Cuba has jumped over Zimbabwe and Namibia to claim 103rd place, Mozambique swept Uruguay out of 100th while Zambia removed Norway from 92nd, Albania shoved China out of 83rd, Bahrain booted Algeria from 79th as Nigeria and Paraguay passed Myanmar to take up 72nd and 73rd respectively, Guatemala was replaced by Palestine in 67th and Greece passed both Moldova and Armenia to move into 64th spot.

Kazakhstan passed Costa Rica to take 58th place while Bolivia removed Azerbaijan from 51st as Lebanon blew Panama out of 42nd and Iran zipped past South Africa to claim 15th.

Meanwhile Argentina became the 12th country to pass 2 million infections as Spain became the 7th to pass 3 million while Russia became the 4th to pass 4 million (the U.K. just fell a bit short of that mark, but they'll pass that during this period) and the U.S. has passed 28 million as well as passing 486,900 deaths.

Here in Australia the state of Victoria is going into a 5 day lockdown from midnight as the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel nebuliser debacle now hits 13 with 5 new cases overnight so there'll be no spectators allowed at the Australian Open until at least Thursday, but it does look like we'll hold onto 110th place for a few days longer.

Interesting point.
There is also a strange drop in influenza this year. Amazingly, lockdown enthusiasts are crediting this to the closure of our society. But if strangling almost all normal life is so effective against flu, why is it not working against Covid?
Epidemic of despair?

Further down in the article...
Imagine, if you will, a person arriving in a town on an empty train, at the empty station, for the meagre, distanced and strictly limited funeral of an old friend.
He asks his way to the crematorium. The only available stranger replies: ‘Take the right fork at the dead cafe. Go past ten dead restaurants, three dead pubs, a dead shopping mall, a dead bookshop, two dead cinemas and a dead theatre.

Turn right at the dead museum, and right again at the dead gym. Cross the road when you get to the dead swimming pool. Walk through the first dead university. At the dead covered market, turn right until you reach the dead library.
Then take the empty bus up through the other dead university, through the dead suburb and past the dead school. Watch out for the dead surgery. At the roundabout, turn down the hill by the dead church and keep going for half a mile.

You can’t miss the crematorium, as it is one of the few places where there are any signs of life.’

That's some deadly lame joke...

Mindlessly, some people really do seem fervently to not 'believe' in wearing masks. Amazing how they can disregard all the news and signs and deaths and disruption all around them. They seem just not to 'get it' that if everyone wore masks, without exception, that we'd be clear of the pandemic sooner.

Despite such unaware idiots:

Hopefully, we keep the present 'lockdown' long enough to avoid a fifth wave of death...

Well, what message is sent to people when said "unaware idiots" are those in power?

Which is exactly where a good example needs to be shown and be clearly seen...

Well, knowing the history of Eastern Europe & this city is very well populated with its citizens, what message do you think the city's MP is displaying for them?
Don't bother answering that question. :-)

Under Trump COVID-19 was left to run rampant with little in the way of genomic sequencing.

It has been a totally different story under Biden, infection numbers have dropped and genomic sequencing accelerated.

Seven new coronavirus mutations identified in US.

The final comment in there is very telling and scarily all too true:

“We’re really good in this country at pumping the brakes after we wrap the car around the tree.”

Here in the UK and likely elsewhere, a year onwards and we still have some people who refuse to believe that COVID and viruses are real!

Sitting on the restaurant patio socially distanced, a Mr. Know It All, finds a receptive table breaks social distance and no mask, begins taking about brainwashing then goes on to tell them how the election was stolen, don't get a micro-chip vax, number of deaths isn't up, Covid listed on a death certificate is fake and if you put a capfull of peroxide in each ear and let it bubble for a minute you won't catch any bugs, Covid included.

Social promotion in schooling. Johnny needed an "F" but know it all social promoters think holding him back a year is too damaging to his psyche. Any wonder why Trump?

Putting this here because her research covered problems with "T" cells.
NASA Remembers Millie Hughes-Fulford
The experiments Dr. Hughes-Fulford conducted on the shuttle were only the start of her yearslong examination into the effects of weightlessness on the body’s immune system and bone mass.
In addition to her work over nine days aboard the Columbia, which carried the Spacelab laboratory, she oversaw experiments on five shuttle flights (four to the Russian Space Station Mir and one to the International Space Station) and on a Russian Soyuz and two SpaceX missions (all to the international station).
Fifteen of the 29 Apollo astronauts had infections in space or soon after they returned. In her experiments, Dr. Hughes-Fulford examined how microgravity, or weightlessness, caused the suppression of T cells, the white blood cells that lead the immunological fight against disease.
