Sorry Rob, there s no disputing what you say regarding WWII. However, at that time it was still fresh in the mind of how deadly the 1918 pandemic was compared to loss of life in WWI. Australia dealt with it effectively. The only difference between the 2 is air travel. Australia, IMV, has dealt with this one more effectively than any other country. Still allowing air travel is a travesty of major proportions. |

Snap, already did that this morning. As for the vaccines, it has already been suggested (not predicted YET) that it may become a regular annual jab similar to the Flu jab. Funny how that has not been mentioned since it was 1st brought up (scientists - not on here). |

I recall a radio program some months ago (don't ask me which one - I've been to bed since I heard it) where it was mentioned that it was possible that the jab may need to be an annual event, but it was far too early to say if this was the case or not and it might be a year or more before a decision could be made. That said, I personally wouldn't be too surprised if it became an annual event, just like the seasonal flu jab. Then the question will be - one jab or two? |

"for future debate" - just now there is no real evidence either way for the annual booster. We'll just have to hurry up and wait. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I have no problems in getting the jab. Well the thing that bothers me the most is what WHO & the manufacturers are saying - 3 weeks after 1st for the 2nd. Yet the UK government is saying 12 weeks. |

Yeh, that 12 weeks sounds really off to me. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I'm finding it harder and harder to work out what goes on inside people's minds. US pharmacist in vaccine tampering guilty plea Steven Brandenburg, 46, is accused of removing from cold storage 57 vials with 570 doses of the Moderna vaccine in Grafton, Wisconsin, in December. Without refrigeration, the vaccine becomes ineffective. The pharmacist admitted that he "believed in various 'conspiracy theories'; subscribed to notions of "alternative history"; and was sceptical of vaccines in general and the Moderna vaccine specifically", the [state attorney's office] statement added. How does somebody like that get through their medical training and get accredited by their professional body? |

How does somebody like that get through their medical training and get accredited by their professional body?Much the same for the Italian doctor (47) who has been arrested for murdering elderly patients to free up beds. |

How does somebody like that get through their medical training and get accredited by their professional body?Much the same for the Italian doctor (47) who has been arrested for murdering elderly patients to free up beds. For 'caring' professions and for life critical professions, we really do need psychological profiling to test people's values before entrusting them with the care of others... From my pseudo-scientific/Socratic encounters with non-mask people to try to get some idea of what it is they are not seeing, some of my encounters (test subjects / victims?!) have shocked me for how they were completely, totally, utterly, unconcerned for anyone else around them, let alone to be concerned for anyone 'older' and more vulnerable than themselves. Note, that goes far beyond just plain simple uneducated ignorance or a convenient disbelief of any virus. Is our 'modern' online society really breeding so many socially isolated uncaring zombies? Thankfully, I too can easily minimize my exposure to the rest of the population. Not working in any 'open plan' sweatshop helps! Stay safe folks! Yes, that includes for the police and security guards... In all professions, there are (hopefully mostly) good dedicated people. Unfortunately, there will also be unsuitable people desperate to enjoy the assumed status and prestige of working alongside such good dedicated people... Stay safe folks! Here in the UK, very sadly: Covid-19: 'Poor decisions' to blame for UK death toll, scientists say Covid-19: UK deaths likely to come down slowly, {England's chief medical officer} Whitty warns BIG RANT: So what does it take for the very carefully considered view/results from Scientists to be fully heeded?! People very definitely have died needlessly. Stay safe folks! Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

A lengthy but informative report Shame politics had to rear its ugly head. If there is anyone thinking that European citizens would accept that we give this high quality vaccine to the UK and would accept to be treated as second class by a UK-based company, I think that the only consequence can be immediately stopping the export of the BioNtech (vaccine) and then we are in the middle of a trade war.Someone ought to tell Ms Stella to get her Artois factory to convert to making vaccines instead of beer. Also what has the Pfizer/BioNtech got to do with AstraZeneca? Love what Die Zeit said... ...It comes as the German press turned on Brussels yesterday as it denounced the EU's shambolic vaccine rollout as the 'best advert for Brexit' |

Meanwhile, what public craziness is this?! Covid-19: Third of police officers 'threatened with deliberate infection' wrote: One in three police officers in England and Wales has been threatened by someone they believed had Covid-19, a survey suggests. Debunking the Covid deniers who enter hospitals wrote: A man making false and misleading statements about Covid-19 tried to remove a sick coronavirus patient from East Surrey Hospital, and is wanted by police.
