Message 2072069 - Posted: 29 Mar 2021, 12:42:36 UTC

Some Mondays can provide a cheery start to the weeks, whereas others...
Received a reply at 11:33 this morning.
"Hello Patrick,
I'm sorry you've received a reminder letter. It can take up to a week for us to process a form and this could be the reason why you were sent the reminder. If you have filled in the census then just disregard the reminder.
Thank you for contacting census 2021
Please complete our customer satisfaction survey on https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/"
Have omitted the end of the link as it was an identifier.
Also, as we have local elections soon, received a snail mail from Peterborough Labour.
Dear Patrick
Snip
That's why I am determined for Peterborough to become a city where we encourage enterprise, support and nurture for every family

Says the man mailing correspondence printed in Newcastle.
So much for supporting the local economy.

That's true. But I did send a reply to their reply regarding the census.
I actually apologised by telling them that I forgot about the bureaucrats week being 5 days. :-)
Wonder if they reply to that?

I think you grossly over estimate the working week for bureaucrats, they don't do Saturday, Sunday, Monday morning, or Friday afternoon. Their day starts at 10:00 with a "team brief" until 11:00, followed by a work break until 11:30, Lunch from 11:30 to 13:00, afternoon team brief from 13:-- to 14:30, work break 14:30 to 15:00, afternoon "tea" break 15:00 to 15:30, end of day team brief 15:30 to 16:30, 16:30 (latest) rush off to get the train home.........
(Monday starts at 12:00; Friday ends at start of lunch)

Gallup - Religiosity Largely Unaffected by Events of 2020 in U.S
The proportion of Americans who consider themselves members of a church, synagogue or mosque has dropped below 50 percent, for the first time since 1937. And it looks like it is set to fall further as religious membership is strongly correlated with age:
66 percent of American adults born before 1946 belong to a church,
compared with 58 percent of baby boomers,
50 percent of Generation X
and 36 percent of millennials.

That sounds about right.
Sadly that seems to have permeated throughout society itself.
Due to recent changes caused by covid, our hours are changed. As furlough ends tomorrow, those changes are in effect from 1/4.
No problem but the problem here is now one of inflexibility.
When worked full time, I had 6 weeks holiday per year. That equated to 1 week earned every 2 months of work.
Not here apparently, part timers are done by the hour.
Excluding bank holidays, I have 70.5 hours holiday to book, with 35 before 30/9 & the remaining 35.5 from 1/10 onwards.
I actually booked all totalling 70 hours, yet got 3 weeks rejected because 2 weeks were .5 hours less than requested & 1 week .5 hour over.
Came up with a very viable solution which they would not accept because I carried over holidays not taken in the 1st half of the year.
So I lose .5 hour, what's the big deal?
Got my head snapped off. No matter what angle I hit, there will be a .5 deficit. So what?
I'm not bothered, would you guys be?

Was going to call B/S on that, but realised you don't post crap, so checked.
The United States is the only advanced economy that does not federally mandate any paid vacation days or holidays. About one in four workers in the U.S. don't get any paid vacation time or holidays at all. That particularly affects lower-income workers, part-time employees and small business workers.
All I can say is, you poor devils.

Wow. Amazing stuff you hear spout from some mouths.

Sitting on the restaurant patio listening to someone spout how "they" are making us into obedient slaves if we wear a face covering with their health orders. That "they" are going to seize all power. That "they" are waging a war on religion and Christianity. How only God can save the USA.
Then the "they" got explained. The "they" are communists. That "they" already are in office in the USA.

Only commie I know that wants the USA is Putin and his right hand man is King Donald. I am shocked at how well Putin's disinformation campaign has worked. All his bots on facebook, twitter, instagram, reddit, 4chan ... have spread his lies far and wide. I thought Americans had some ability to think and that most of them still thought. However it seems as if some are all to willing to swallow anything no matter how many contradictions it contains.

you might have an IQ of 100, but if you don't use even half of it, moron.

Billionaires added about $8 trillion to their total net worth from last year.
The number of newly minted and reissued billionaires soared last year, Forbes reported Tuesday in its annual ranking, a staggering accumulation of individual wealth that stands in sharp contrast to the widespread economic struggles unleashed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The number of billionaires on Forbes’ 35th annual ranking swelled by 660 to 2,755 — a roughly 30 percent jump from a year ago — and 493 of them are first timers. And a staggering 7 of 8 of them are richer than they were before the pandemic. Forbes calculates net worth by using stock prices and exchange rates from March 5.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with an estimated fortune of $177 billion, topped the list for the fourth year running. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk came in at No. 2 at $151 billion. The shares of both companies soared last year, largely contributing to both men’s net worth and causing them to toggle for the richest man title on various lists.

As a class, billionaires added about $8 trillion to their total net worth from last year, totaling $13.1 trillion. The United States had the most billionaires, at 724, extending a rapid rise in wealth that hasn’t happened since the Rockefellers and the Carnegies roughly a century ago. China, including Hong Kong and Macao, had the second highest number of billionaires: 698.

The difference between 1912 & 2021?
In this respect: None
As one, who 6 decades ago, experienced
No Blacks
No Irish
No dogs
The media & politics is just as despicable now as then.

Yes, we really do need to remove discrimination and remove hate.

We need also to improve education.

We very much need to improve the caliber and character of the politicians we allow to be in power!

How to do that?

How to do that?
Return policing to its core values.
Tiggten up media regulations forcing them to report factual news rather than biased opinions.
It won't stop abuse of power or corruption, but it will make many think twice.
