I was thinking of this as I read the word: Transcendental.

order --> Obsidian

The Obsidian Order was a Cardassian Intelligence agency.

The Romulans, (for the Admiral's benefit), had the Tal Shiar - (someone please check my spelling....)

The Federation, (though unacknowledged publicly), has Section 31.

You forgot the Vulcan V'Shar,

I didn't know that the Vulcan's had a secret Intelligence agency. Thanks for that. :-)

using "screw" as the hidden common bit

The sequence was Screw - thread - Archimedes

Screw to thread was my post

I can see screw to Archimedes but not with thread in between

Both you & Carlos posted in the same minute, so it is probable that Carlos hadn't seen your post when he settled on his post. One of the little trip wires in this online version of the game is that sometimes two (or more) people will post valid replies only link back, but not to each other in a meaningful way.

OK, I can see that, BUT, in posts where that has happened that I am the 2nd to post, AFAIK I have always gone back deleted the original word and found one that fits in with the 1st poster.

It is the thread on the screw that moves the material.

People are correct. I never saw the word "thread" I have correct my word when I see someone posted before me. In this case I never saw the intervening "thread". Sorry.
