Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rwanda, Cambodia and Darfur, Sudan And on a different angle: 'If the others go I'll go': Inside China's scheme to transfer Uighurs... wrote: China's policy of transferring hundreds of thousands of Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang to new jobs often far from home is leading to a thinning out of their populations... ... Comics can use any imaginary words they want. It doesn't make them real. Well. At least it was one word instead of two. |

Dark side is two words, and that the moon has one is a misnomer.Pink Floyd album. ;-) Anyone with a modicum of culture knows where it came from ;-) I have these pedant moments, that have to be expressed. |

Dark side is two words, and that the moon has one is a misnomer.Pink Floyd album. ;-) Hey I didn't know until I started playing guitar in the 60's. Not 1960's, My 60's. |

A reminder: Take care when using hyphens, the resultant double word must be in common usage. And in the same vein, abbreviations - great care is needed with them, particularly when used as part of an extended word, the rules state that the abbreviation must be a word in its own right, a great many commonly used fail on this count. Message 2070299: With the clever trick of always missing! ;-) Are you sure. Newton's laws of motion say without an outside influence bodies in motion will always travel in a straight line. So without gravity there would be no satellites, and they would not only miss, they would just depart further and further into the universe. |

Exactly. So for example, our various artificial satellites are always falling back towards earth... Except... They have enough orbital velocity that by the time they have fallen down to earth, they are another quarter away round their merry freefall... Cue Douglas Adams quote! Exactly. No, the forward momentum of the satellite is the stronger force, with gravity as the weaker force causing it to drop slightly. If gravity becomes the dominant force then the satellites path will now turn towards the large object and there will be a Crunch, unless it is small and the large object has an atmosphere, in which case it will burn up, maybe explosively. |
