Seems the police arrested a "a man in his sixties" on "suspicion of misconduct in public office" today at Sandringham House, Norfolk.

It's about time to prepare one of the places, which Bob insinuated here recently, also for the arrival of a second long-term guest, besides Mandelson.

It was a fitting birthday present for young Andy and now his security detail is being targeted.

Royal protection police close to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to be grilled.

I wonder what fringe benefits they got.

The sovereign British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri on Cyprus island in the Mediterranean was attacked by Iranian (or Hezbollah) drones recently.

Yesterday the British MOD announced to deploy the warship HMS Dragon to the Eastern Mediterranean. A day later it's still moored in Portsmouth harbor...

Do I, a citizen of a nation of landlubbers, understand this correctly? The mighty Royal Navy, after... ~300? years ... of continuous naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea, currently has no credible warship there?

Wow! Unbelievable. Crazy times indeed.

Isn't the MOD no longer afraid that the always somewhat irritating Spanish government may dares to impose a naval blockade on Gibraltar, starve this pirate haven, and then simply occupy it?

Some of the documents (all of 147 pages - not a lot.....)around the appointment of the Madelbrat have been released.
A couple of takeaways are that there were warnings about his appointment, and that he wanted 500k GBP to be sacked (greedy must be his middle name).

(One thing to remember is that there is a (UK) police investigation into the Mandelbrat and Epstein relationship, and this may mean that some documents of interest cannot be released if they would impair that investigation.)

British ambassadors are usually career diplomats, but in a departure from the norm, Lord Mandelson was a politician and businessman when he was appointed to the top diplomatic role in Washington.
[...]

Elsewhere in the documents, the prime minister's national security adviser, Jonathan Powell, said he found the appointment of Lord Mandelson "weirdly rushed".

Powell is noted as having raised concerns "about the individual and reputation" to Sir Keir's former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney.
