I've been LMAO over this comedy show. From what I've seen & heard, too many have missed the elephants in the room. Freedom has a price. It isn't cheap. Using Lineker's law here. Lineker is a gobshyting has-been. His constant on air wind up of Alan Shearer on never winning the FA Cup. Alan must have had enough & has started telling him on air that he holds a Premier League winners medal, something Lineker does not possess. I lost respect for Lineker last summer when he tweeted sarcastic comments about the lionesses when they won the Euros. Something the England men have never done. I wonder what his tweets will say this summer if the Lionesses win the World Cup. The last straw for me was when he compared the government to Nazi Germany. I had to laugh at him when Leicester won the league. He went from Leicester to Spurs where he succeeded & very well at that. Not only has he insulted the greatest generation but the history of Spurs. Walter Tull, one of the first black men to play professional football gave up his career to fight on the Western Front. He attained the rank of Captain & his men trusted & respected him. Sadly he lost his life as did many other players. Freedom of speech has ONE important caveat - Know when to keep your mouth shut. Edited for spelling. |

Frigging hilarious. The figures have been released. Shame they were on page 4. Mister Crisp has a regular viewing audience of 2.1 million. The week he was no-show, the viewing figures were 2.6 million. :-) It seems the "establishment" continue to operate without thought or common sense. Some years ago I was lampooned here for a mischievous comment Well, it looks like actually happening. 10 Bins At least Mrs Miggins jam jars & potato peelings get an honourable mention. He said: "In a place like mine, where the majority of people don't live in the towns, why should we be running 26-tonne diesel vehicles all over the countryside to pick up Mrs Miggins's jam jar, or a bit of peeling from her potatoes? |

Boris gets himself back in the lime light, just not in the style that he likes (but he should be use to that by now). Boris Johnson admits to misleading parliament over lockdown parties at Downing Street. |

This right wing policy doesn't sit well with most here (or most anywhere else for that matter) so why is the U.K.'s right copying a bad policy? The UK copying Australia's refugee policy is a bad idea, refugee advocates say. ....But Ms Gleeson told the ABC it appeared (right wing) government ministers promoting the policy to be adopted overseas were trying to get cover for Australia's bad conduct by encouraging others to do the same. |

Boris Johnson admits to misleading parliament over lockdown parties at Downing Street.Lots of background evidence being released in advance of this afternoon's committee meeting. I found this one particularly enlightening: BBC News wrote: But it's worth bringing you the evidence from Tory MP Sarah Dines, which features on the subsequent page of the Privileges Committee document that was published this morning. Her words appear to contradict Case.To a native english speaker, that sounds very much like typical British understatement: Big Boss sets the party line (sic!), and everyone else says they're falling into line behind him. Quite the opposite of Boris Johnson's lawyer-advised line of 'I knew nothing - I just passed on what my subordinates told me later'. |

It would appear that the USA is not alone in having political parties who manage (or otherwise) to fall foul of the financial goings on... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65187823 Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Well things are getting more interesting for the SNP: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65212357 If the figures given in this report then they must have either have been taking lessons from someone on the far side of the Atlantic, or are extremely financially inept; in either case one has to question their fitness to govern. ...and even more "interesting". The SNP are really in the brown aromatic stuff, their party treasurer has been arrested and has now resigned, all over a lump of donations allegedly being misappropriated. While 600k sounds small bait to some, for the SNP it's a substantial amount of their cash in hand, but it was meant to have been spent on a specific campaign, but got syphoned off into some other places. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65327953 That's three of the "top table" gone in the last few weeks - how many more will follow? You a bureaucrat? While I have some sympathy for the UK civilians in Khartoum, one has to ask why, at least, their families were still there. There wer plenty of signs there was going to be trouble before the major eruption of violence on the 15th April, there had been nearly 50 political violence events with over 60 deaths reported in the period 11th March to the 7th April. It is also a city which in troubled times not too easy to move around, it is the junction of two large rivers, the White and Blue Nile with only a few bridges joining to major parts, Khartoum, Khartoum and Omdurman. And as we all know the international airports are always one of the first parts that are fought over. In also happened in Ukraine. And how many forces personnel and aircraft* would have been needed to rescue 4,000 people. Was it ever really on to expect, the very limited size of, the UK Armed Forces to pull off such a move. *aircraft needed - about 50% of all the transport aircraft the RAF has min |

Meanwhile the SNP has more "fun" to cope with: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65385825 How the blankety blank did their treasurer not know about someone spending about 10% of heir annual income on a flashy motorhome (RV to our colonial cousins)? That is unless he was sleeping on the job or getting a fat plain brown envelope.... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

They wouldn't accept my Keighley and Worth Valley Railway local resident's photocard, but did accept what I called my 'Gordon Brown' pensioners free bus pass. Gerrymandering with a side serving of ageism - young people's travel cards aren't accepted. |

That's been a problem up & down the country. ID anger Valid ID includes passports, driving licences, older or disabled person's bus passes, and Oyster 60+ cards. Out-of-date ID is permitted as long as the person looks the same.So those with no passport, driving license & under retirement age are screwed. Back door way of getting ID cards out there? |

The photograph in my passport is a horrible, greyed-out, digital representation of a photograph taken in an expensive, automated, 'Photo-Me' style booth nine years ago. There was no human check that the photograph I was submitting was an actual image of the person applying for the passport. My parting words to the dreaded machine, as it wished me a quick return, were "Not for another 10 years, if I can help it." Much to the amusement of the adjacent Post Office queue. The photograph on my 'Gordon Brown' pass is far more secure: it was taken, using a webcam, by the PTA worker who checked my age, identity, and residence documents. It was totally free, very quick and easy - and a damn sight better likeness! |

Now the Tories have lost a net 1,038 seats - more than their worst case prediction. Are there are still eight councils to declare ... Serves them right. |
